Northisterone and long IVF cycle

Hi everyone 👋🏼
I have been prescribed Northisterone at the start of my IVF cycle.
I do plan on asking my clinic at my next appointment but I just wondered if anyone knew why I would be prescribed this to take a week before my period is due. I assumed it was for women whose cycles are irregular but mine are generally very regular. Is it more to do with timings with scans etc? First time doing IVF so a complete novice!

Hi can I ask, how long you’ve been asked to take it for? I think my clinic start it on CD21. So I’m trying to work out when I would then start the rest of the meds.

I think from what she told me on the phone this morning I take it for 10 days? I would start it on cd20 from the dates she gave me. Need to wait for the letter though as I may have got it wrong!

@DillyDallyDeedee I only know because I’ve just started my first cycle and I’m also on norethisterone for a long cycle. I started it on my CD 19. I’m on 2 tablets a day for 7 days. I then started buserelin injections 2 days later 😊 I’m on day 6 of the norethisterone, my last 2 tablets are tomorrow. Then I’m hoping to have a bleed a few days after I stop. I then have my baseline scan scheduled for the 12th August (if I have a bleed) and start ovaleap (stims) the next day. That’s a rough timeline 😂but I think for some people the dosage of norethisterone can vary for different people and also the amount of days it’s taken x
