Do’s/Dont’s - Stressing

Hello 😊 I’ll be starting my first round of ICSI next week and I’m stuck on what to do/what not to do. Am I supposed to do acupuncture? Mediterranean diet? Cut out fragrances? The last few weeks I’ve been massively stress eating and I’m stressing as I know I’ve gained weight (BMI is about 31 and we’re private). So I now feel guilty and if I don’t do those things will treatment fail 🤦🏼‍♀️

So has anyone else done treatment and not done all those extra things and still had a successful round? Or had a higher BMI and still been successful?

Hi Op, I had my DD from my 1st round of ICSI (2 prior rounds of IUI). Was commuting 3-4 hours a day at the time so gained some weight. Clinic didn’t weigh me and thank god all was ok. There are lots of variables though I am sure. I just figure with fertility, it’s a complete mine field of what to do to increase your success. Most of us don’t have the time, mental capacity & finances to do them all. It’s best to choose where you want to channel your resources & stick with that. Fingers crossed for a successful round!

@Btowngirl its so hard isn’t it! And so confusing of what to do and not do. I’ve actually got into gardening so I’m using that as my way of relieving stress 😂 we do already have a daughter conceived by some miracle so trying to navigate treatment and be there for her physically and emotionally is hard. Hoping gardening can save the day haha

Yeah definitely. We have an older DD too who was 2 at the time, it’s all just a lot isn’t it. It will be worth it though! The main thing I always focussed on was being well informed on any decisions as I was really nervous that if it didn’t work out, I’d harbour blame. For me it was important that I was decisive, it may be less important to others though. Gardening sounds like a good outlet 😅

Not sure about the high bmi and treatment. Im currently now overweight and doing treatment and it hasnt worked for me so far but im told its not my weight but more likely my age. Try not to make any huge changes now that your so close to treatment as big changes cause stress on the body and you dont need that before an ivf cycle. Just eat well and do things that make you happy. Fingers xd it all works out for you.
