Hello, I started IVF recently, due to have my egg retrieval soon. We are sending the embryos for genetic texting and I was wondering if anyone can shed light to how long after the retrieval and testing they had to wait to have the embryo transfer?

I'm trying to judge leave for work for when I have the transfer so I can have a bit of time to just mentally relax after it during the 2 week wait.

TIA xxxx

Hiya we had to wait three weeks ish for PGT. But in terms of a transfer our clinic made us wait a full natural cycle before going in for our FET to let things calm down after an egg collection so we got the results back way before our transfer started. Hope this helps but maybe you can ask the clinic what their normal process is ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 25/06/2025 09:20

Results took 2 weeks from testing place receiving them

Starting next bit depends where u are in cycle etc
You also often need another nurse planning meeting

HopeWillTriumph · 26/06/2025 14:18

Yeah expect a bit of a wait. We had a few weeks for results but then doctors review meeting and nurse planning for FET. Had egg collection March and doing transfer in a few weeks, which is as fast as we possibly could have moved with our clinic. After egg collection I didn’t mind some physical time off for myself so make the most of it if you can xx

Thanks so much. This is what I was wondering the time between each phase really. So roughly 4 months after retrieval for you to begin the next step. Yes I can imagine there were some positive to having a break in between to just rest your mind for a while. I hope everything goes well for you ❤️

I am wondering the same. I had my egg retrieval on 8th August. The biopsy for PGT-A was taken on day 5 embryos so 13th August and my consultant review has been booked for 3rd September.

I’m hopeful we will have some euploid embryos and be able to do the frozen transfer in my next natural cycle, which should start at the end of September.

We’re with Care Woking, some things are really efficient, but we missed a month during initial consultation period as they insisted on a face to face meeting and I was away for work. Which pushed things out two weeks. I assumed it would be due to a scan or blood test, but it was a discussion and so could have been a remote call. This caused there to be only 2 weeks to arrange consent forms, pharmacy drops, invoices and education videos before my cycle would start so they said no. We were actually ready, but there were no nurse appointment slots so had to wait another month.

I’m trying really hard to stay positive but finding the wait between steps hard so admit inefficiencies for admin are definitely winding me up more than they should. I am tipping into a negative spiral of overthinking for sure.

I also keep forgetting that we do need to wait for the PGT-A results, we might not have anything to transfer! Which is why the clinic haven’t confirmed anything yet. Fingers crossed for us all, that we have great results and the admin runs like clockwork so we can get going soon!

I did an egg collection in late October and provably had results about 2.5-3 weeks later, I attempted a FET in early Jan - my clinic was closed over Christmas so couldn't any earlier as I also has some additional testing to do pre transfer (blood clotting etc) but otherwise would probably have had a shorter gap and done the FET with my next cycle. So annoying to be held up for admin reasons, hopefully you won't encounter too many delays

We were with care

Our pgta results were 2 - 3 weeks

We did a fet

( it worked!)

But depending on timing - you may have to wait a month etc - you have embryo watching week
Then pgta after..
Then you need your cycle in right place etc

Thank you that’s really helpful to know.

Hopefully 10 working days between the appointment and my cycle starting will be sufficient if ours is the same process, and our results are euploid! Might be a bit tight so I’ll assume it will be another month again.

Congratulations! Reassuring to hear a success story 🙂

do you mind me asking what the process is for the blood tests? My clinic advised to egg collection first so we are but then I want to use the time while we are waiting for PGT results efficiently. Did you have to push your clinic to arrange the blood tests-im having same one for clotting I think. Did it take long for bloods results to come back? It seems like if we can get all the results at the same time then I could have my review meeting and make a plan for a FET with all that information

I’m with a branch of Care - they generally seem good at admin but it’s definitely worth asking each time if an appointment needs to be in person or you can do remotely. I’m paying for this cycle and it seems more stressful already with checking invoices and going back with queries. I’ve also had a lot of back and forth about my protocol snd medication- I’m going duostim this time which is one of their packages but no one seems to know how to deal with it.

Orangewillow · 24/08/2025 09:56

@HopeWillTriumph my doctor suggested doing the tests, thrombophyllia and MTHFR were included for sure, I'm not sure what else... basically he wanted to make sure had covered bases before going for a FET. I did a microbiome test too. They didn't take very long. Before the FET I also made sure my smear test was up to date. I ended up having a saline scan as well, I have a history of scar tissue, it did actually show I still had some and after my first Fet didn't work I had a hysteroscopy to sort that out before going foe another FET.

Def worth using any doen time dor additional tests and checking all good witb the uterus as well!

Hi, sorry late to thread.

I am with Birmingham Women’s Hospital and had my ER on 13/8/25. 5 blastocyte embryos were send for PGT M testing to Igenomix. It’s coming to 3 weeks and still no results. Does anyone have the recent timeframes for getting genetic results back and when to expect to go for a FET.

this waiting game is very dangerous to the mind.

AlmostTime · 09/09/2025 23:04

I sympathise. Another wait in flight here too!

My egg collection was 8th August. 7 eggs retrieved, all fertilised. 4 good quality blastocysts on day 5, the other 3 had arrested by day 6.

We had intended to do a fresh transfer if possible but were advised against it as my progesterone was borderline on trigger day (1.4) if some embryos looked like they wouldn’t survive a freeze/thaw on day 5 I was advised to consider a fresh transfer, as better odds than zero by not transferring and then none surviving after thawing. We were very fortunate we could freeze 4, although at the time I was really disappointed.

Decided to take the opportunity for the 4 suitable for freezing to undergo PGTA testing. Waited 2 weeks for the results. They had said 2-3 weeks but I phoned on day 14 as I’m impatient. The results were back! 3 euploid. Managed to move my consultant appointment forward a week so now all set for starting frozen transfer on my next cycle, which should start next week.

I think that’s the quickest it would be allowed, before committing to PGT-A testing I asked if I could do a frozen transfer on my next cycle and they said no. (Care Fertility)

Advice was to have the bleed after egg collection, one full natural cycle, then on the next natural cycle count day 1 and start preparing for frozen embryo transfer then. As we decided to do PGT-A there was almost a chance it would have been another month due to time for the results, Dr review and then planning with nurse and pharmacy drop. But I told anyone who would listen I wanted to do this asap and they were really supportive with getting the paperwork etc arranged in time. It was really tight turn around even with the results being back a week earlier than anticipated.

If it’s been 2 weeks I would message and ask. They can only say they’re still waiting!

@AlmostTime

Super happy for you. Fingers crossed your cycle comes on time and you will be blessed with a bundle of joy very soon.

its just emotionally and mentally draining the constant wait and what ifs. I called up yesterday and that lead nurse wasn’t pleasant, I know it was the lead nurse as I recognised her voice.
i called Igenomix directly and they said your query has to come via your clinic as it’s too confidential to give over phone.

some days I just tell myself forget it. But I had a miscarriage last year so I am even more keen to bring a baby into the world. I really hope all this waiting games will be worth and all the ladies out there going through get their little miracle. Praying for all ladies. Not easy being a lady eh 😅

It make me so mad when healthcare staff behave like this. I say that as a former member of laboratory staff, we can rarely give results out over the phone. But there is never a reason to be rude and not provide some sort of an update e.g. they’ll be with your clinic in x days, weeks please call them directly.

Sorry you had that experience, many forget the patient is usually worried or scared and at the end of the day, their end service user and in a lot of cases also the reason they even have a job!

ZStarxx · 12/09/2025 10:30

@AlmostTime

Any updates, hoping to hear positive news that you have had your embryo transfer.

I know there was no need for her to speak like that. I am a nurse by profession myself, and sometimes as a professional you have to be mindful because it can affect person deeply.

I know results are not shared over phone but the genetic company politely mentioned that if your clinic gets in touch with us, we can provide detailed information and we are more than happy to do that ahead of time.

i am just waiting it out hoping for the best and all this trauma ends soon.

Still waiting here, AF isn’t due for another week so trying to not get impatient as this is expected, I’m generally on time however I’ve read on here that a lot of people have found their first natural cycle after egg collection is often longer than usual so bracing myself for that!

Also still in the headspace that it could happen naturally this month, we are diagnosed as unexplained, it seems very unlikely to miraculously work after all these years, but I remain hopeful!
