Waiting for my period to start! Anyone else?

As usual, my period hasn't come as predicted. This frustrates me. I feel so left behind on my group im in and I just want to start ivf already. Iv gone through all the emotions of going again and now I just want to get started. My cycles can be anywhere from 22 days all the way up to 38 days. My app is set to a 28 day cycle but thats never the case. Anyway thought id start a thread for people who are still in their waiting stages to start ivf treatment. We did a cycle in april which was a complete failure and we had a cancelled cycle in may.

Mine is due on the 1st July and we’ll be starting our first round of ICSI 😊

Miraclemuma03 · 25/06/2025 02:55

@Cornish13 thats really exciting. Not long now! Are you usually regular?

@Miraclemuma03 yes I’m normally like clockwork, every now and then it might switch it up by a day or so. But yes nearly there! Nerves are kicking in now 😂 has your period arrived yet?

Georgiaivf · 29/06/2025 18:51

My cycle is unpredictable too and I have a similar cycle number variation! It came on Monday just gone though and I’ve just started microgynon before I move onto norethisterone later in July.

Provisionally due to start stims 03/08- but I am really concerned about my bleed actually coming within the 5 day window they’ve scheduled when I come off noresthisterone.

Do you have a provisional EC date?

Yes thankfully my period started. Very late. Because of this i have to take the contraceptive pill called eleanor for 10 days, then wait for another bleed then I start meds on day 3 of that bleed. So see how we go making it to a transfer in July.

What exactly is norethisterone. A few ladies in other group start this but I dont know what it is. Is it to help with your cycles?

I believe it’s essentially a period delaying tablet- it’s mostly used for scheduling if your periods aren’t regular, and so the clinic can try to time your bleed in line with the egg collection dates they have provisionally booked you in for- so I’ll be on it for 10 days before a 5 day break where I’ll (hopefully) have a bleed and then once I’ve had that bleed, I can begin the 10 days of stims+trigger before egg collection.

I don’t think it’s required if you’re regular like clockwork, but from what I’ve seen on here, a lot of clinics use it for scheduling purposes! That’s what it says in my notes where it’s prescribed too!

Oh right! Yeah makes sense. That's why I have started the pill, so my clinic can "take control" of my cycle. Im also on it for 10 days. Im on day 3 and already i have broken out, and i ever so rarely get any sort of break out, my mood is bad and I just get headaches. So the next 7 days are going to be fun.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling great on it- I’m on microgynon for 25 days before the 10 days of noresthisterone so feels like a long road ahead. I’ve been feeling tired and moody and breaking out too. I feel like putting any type of hormone into your body will do that though haha

Miraclemuma03 · 02/07/2025 11:06

@Georgiaivf yes your right. All these different hormone meds will cause all sorts of issues. I guess its just the process we have to go through for the end goal.

That’s the only logic I can apply to not drive myself mad haha. Very tough process so I can sympathise with the added frustration caused by rubbish symptoms from medication. How are you feeling now, much the same? I think my body’s acclimatised to the microgynon now I’ve been on it over a week.

Miraclemuma03 · 03/07/2025 06:45

@Georgiaivf the side effects of this pill is driving me a little bit mad, I think its just the type of pill, i have 4 more days left.

What is mycrogynon?

Not too long left! You’ve got this. It’s another type of combined contraceptive pill

25 days seems like forever then you have to start more meds before treatment. Ivf is just waiting and waiting isnt it.

It does require a lot of patience haha, I just think we’ve waited and been TTC for much longer though so waiting a month until stims isn’t too bad.

Miraclemuma03 · 03/07/2025 08:34

@Georgiaivf yes it really is such a small wait in the long term.

@Miraclemuma03 my period never arrived on the 1st July 🙄 so I’m now in the same boat you was! My cycles are normally 29-31 but I’m now on CD32 and will be DD33 tomorrow. So annoying! The one time I need it to be on time, it’s not 😂

Oh gosh! It absolutely sucks doesnt it. Im now going through the stage of my period not ending haha there is just no middle ground is there. I have 2 days left on this pill that is driving me crazy and I think its giving me the feeling of my world falling apart. I just feel stressed and overwhelmed and so much weight in my shoulders. I do actually have a lot going on but its not something that isnt unusual its just at the moment its all too much. Il take the last 2 days, since im this far in now and see how I feel when im off them.
