Frozen Embryo Storage

Hi,

How long do frozen embryos last for? I have 3 about 2 years old and I don't plan on having another round of FET for 2 years. Would it still be useful to keep paying for storage and using these 2 years later? Are there any success stories of old frozen embryos being effective?

Thank you

There’s no evidence embryos deteriorate in storage, certainly not over such a relatively short time. There have been babies born from embryos stored for more than 20 years.
They also don’t age, like your eggs in your ovaries will, so the success rates will be the same as at the age you froze them at - does that make sense?

I just gave birth to my baby from the same batch of embryos as his sister, which were made over 3 years ago. So still a good chance of success, don’t think the odds are any different than with a fresh batch. Good luck!

Okay that's great, thank you! 😊

There was a baby born from donated embryos that were on ice for something like 24yrs.
