IVF first cycle failed

Hi all,

just looking to see if there is anyone else out there in a similar situation to me!

I am 37, I have a son who is 11 who was conceived naturally. We tried for a couple of years for another baby with no luck. We decided to try IVF due to our age. No real reasons as to why we can't get pregnant have come from the testing. My AMH is 20.4pmol/l, husbands sperm is relatively normal just slightly low morphology but doctors weren't overally concerned.

1st cycle - stims taken till day 10 and was told to trigger after follicle scan. Egg retrieval we had 15 eggs, 8 mature and 5 fertilised. We had slow PN fusion and the stages of development became delayed. We had 3 4 cells and 1 3 cell at day 3 and by day 4 we had one early morula. This morula stopped growing at day 5/6 so nothing to transfer. Had the follow up with the doctor today who has said there will be changes to my stims for the next round. Just worried that this will happen again and it was absolutely devastating!

This has happened to me twice now, not the exact same as you but failed cycles. Back in 2021 we did a round of ivf, we got 5 eggs, 4 fertilised, we transferred 1 embryo which we miscarried at 9 weeks, 1 embryo didnt make it to day 3, 1 embryo didn't survive thaw, we had another transfer which didn't take. We did another cycle and again we got 5 eggs, 4 fertilies and our of that cycle we had success , I got my son and my daughter and our angel baby. In April we did a new cycle and that was a complete fertilise failure so no embryo at all. We are hoping to do another round in june and we hope we have success. Sometimes the first round is just a test round to see what works and what you need and the second round becomes more successful.
