This is not the huge issue that you think it is. My AMH was 4.9 when I was about to start IVF. I really thought my chances were in the bin. I was put on high dose stims and responded very well. 17 eggs collected and 5 embryos. My fresh transfer didn't stick but my first frozen one did and my little boy is 18 months. I still have 3 embryos in the freezer, so we're starting transfers again in the next couple of months. Really hoping one of them sticks!
Good luck with it all x

ah thanks so much this is just what I needed to hear, that’s amazing results ❤️ they are also putting me on the highest dose stims so here’s hoping 🤞 did you get any symptoms with the high dose that I need to be prepped for?

good luck for your next transfer xx

Hi OP, sorry to hear you’re going through this. As PP said, low AMH on its own isn’t a huge deal. I’m 34, I haven’t tested my AMH in a couple of years now but it was measured at 3.3pmol, 5.3pmol and then 2.4pmol when I was 31-32 years old. I started off freezing as I wanted to bank embryos then move to transfers as we have MFI as well (1-2% morphology).

For me this has looked like:
Round 1 - started with 9 follicles, 5 eggs collected, ICSI 1 embryo made it to freeze
Round 2 - start 8 follicles, 5 eggs collected, ICSI & PIMSI, 1 embryo made it to freeze
Round 3 - start 7 follicles, cancelled cycle, poor response, looked like max 1-2 eggs would make it if any.
-changed protocols to slightly different drugs -
Round 4 - start 18 follicles, 12 eggs collected, ICSI, 5 embryos made it to freeze.
Round 5 - start 9 follicles, cancelled cycle, same issue as round 3 despite new protocol.

moved on to frozen transfers:

  • x1 on board, BFP MMC at 8+5, growth was behind from 6 weeks
  • x1 on board, BFN
  • x1 on board, BFP, breastfeeding her as I type :)
left with 4 Frosties to try for no 2 later.

Good luck!

@Zypig thanks so much for taking the time to respond, im trying to be as zen as possible before treatment and this all really helps - that round 4 was amazing! So glad it all worked out for you, and 4 Frosties to try for later - what dreams are made of ❤️ x

Amh 3, or 0.80, age 30
Round 1, pergoveris 375, 4 eggs all failed to fertilized, bad quality
Round 2, pergoveris 375, 2 eggs fertilized with icsi, deteriorated day 4, also bad quality
(Semen analysis was great very low fragmentation)
Changed clinics for Round 3
Ovarian PRP 8 weeks before Round 3
Round 3, meriofert 125, 10 eggs, 8 fertilized, day 3 transfer
Currently 27 weeks pregnant with healthy boy! And 2 frozen day 5 blastocysts

For me amh did mean low quality eggs even do I was quite young doing ivf, but that is not the case for everyone, I honestly think the Ovarian PRP and lower dose of meds helped the quality of my eggs!
Best of luck with your ivf journey xx

IVF success is primarily predicted by maternal age not AMH. You are going to have a decent chance even if you end up with just two or three eggs. But you're likely to get 6 or more.

That’s an amazing response, do you remember what dose were you on? Also when you say the first transfer didn’t stick do you mean that it didn’t implant? Xx Trying to figure out next steps after my first embryo transfer which didn’t implant :/

Thank you, this is what I keep trying to remind myself :) xxx

I’m in a similar situation. AMH 6.5, age 36. Starting stims in 2 weeks. My consultant has been super positive about it and as PP said, they’ve explained that my age puts us on the positive side of the stats (both generally and from their own experience). They’re hoping for around 5–7 eggs to yield 1–2 embryos, so I’m trying to focus on that as our goal and ignore outlier stories.

Hello, thank you and we’re almost in exactly the same boat - you’re just a month ahead! you’ll have to keep me updated on how you get on - best of luck with it all ❤️ are they putting you on the highest stims too? X

I’ll be on 300iu Gonal F, which I think is mid-range? They said if they want to increase it would be max 450. I have to go in for scans and bloods every other day to monitor if they need to adjust the dose. They’re estimating 10 days (depending on scans and bloods), then a trigger shot.

Bloop123 · 07/09/2025 14:39

@FluentTealGuide hey! Wondering how you got on with your round? Sadly we only got one embryo and BFN. Hope you had better luck than me! We’re switching to short protocol next time with dual trigger, which I’m hoping will help!

@Bloop123 Sorry to hear that it didn’t work!
We ended up with 5 embryos but had to cancel the cycle and freeze them as my bloods weren’t right for transfer. I’ve just started meds for a frozen transfer of one of the embryos this cycle, so still TBC for me.
