Barts NHS fertility waiting times

Hi all,

We are due an appointment at Barts soon to hopefully start IVF (self funded). Does anyone have any recent experience and insight into how long wait times are from first appointment to starting IVF? I have searched for previous posts on this but they are all fairly old and during COVID.

Im 38 and have low ish AMH so I’m not sure if those factors might influence wait times?

thanks is advance!

Hi there, we had our initial appointment (I think to get NHS funding approved so you might skip this one if self-funding?) in mid September 2024. Then we had an information session late November 2024, started meds late Jan for egg collection mid February 2025. I think the time from information session to starting meds would have been shorter if it wasn’t for Christmas closure.

I’ve had a good experience at Barts overall (a bit slow on admin but competent and very caring), wishing you the best of luck!

Hi @123Lou456 I also have had a great experience with Bart’s, the nurses in particular are so lovely. We had our first appointment in October, needed some blood tests and because of my cycle they weren’t done until November, but after that had info session mid December and started meds not long after for January egg collection.

I think it depends if you need any more testing etc. but generally they are great. Once you are in the system it’s very efficient!

Good luck 💫
