I started ttc jan 2023 and to my shock at 38 years old I got pregnant my second month of trying . I was not taking ovulation tests so I had no idea I was in my fertile window and only had sex once ( as he was away working that week) which resulted in pregnancy. I was delighted but shocked. Unfortunately this ended in MMC which I only found out at the 12 week scan. This was 2 years ago and I have not been able to get pregnant soon. I was using clearblue ovulation tests and timing intercourse. It was only went I tracked my ovulation with ovusense that I found out I didn't ovulate untill maybe 4 days after the static smiley so I was timing intercourse wrong. But for the past Months I have been timing intercourse correctly but still not pregnant. I'm 40 years old now so running out of time. My blood tests and scans all normal. And my husbands sperm all normal. I am booked in for a hsg next week and I am terrified to the point I am taking panic attacks. The only thing that makes me want to do This is I have heard it can give you a better chance of conceiving esp if you get it done close of ovulation.. I am getting mine done day 12 which is close to ovulation as I usually ovulated anywhere between day 14 to day 20. Any positive stories on hsg that helped you get pregnant? If this doesn't work I will have to look at IVF

It didn't help me get pregnant but just to reassure you I didn't find the procedure at all painful. I read all these horror stories on mumsnet etc and was terrified but it was honestly fine. The only thing TBA of is that they get you in a hospital gown (or at least they did where I had it done) and there are a few people in the room so it felt very clinical and 'serious' (I was expecting it to be more like a smear and I'd just have to whip my trousers off 🤣) which added to my nerves but it was honestly no big deal and no discomfort. Hope that helps with the fear! The Dr who referred us did tell us to really go for it the next three months as it can sometimes clean out the pipes and make you more fertile so I think it does happen but I guess it depends what the underlying issues are as to whether it makes any difference or not.
