Can anyone offer advice?

I am 40 years old. I have been ttc for 2 years. Got pregnant first time we tried but ended in miscarriage. I have had scans, blood tests all came back fine and my husbands sperm all came back fine too. I know I ovulate as use opk and bbt. I'm getting hsg done soon and have heard this can help you get pregnant even if tubes are not blocked.. is this true?

I'm on every supplement you can think, I use concieve plus, mucinex method, baby asprin..

I am just too old now for it to happen?

My Dr says IVF is next step but I'm new to my job and I Duno if i can take so much time off as fertility place is over an hour's drive

I'm becoming depressed over all this and my doctor wants to put my on anti depressants but I'm afraid it harm my chances

You're definitely not too old!

It might be worth paying for a fertility assessment at a private clinic if you've not done this already? Then you're in the best place for advice over your GP.

I also think your workplace would be absolutely fine with it - they should be supportive.

I'm 42 and TTC for 5 years, 2 eggs collections and 1 FET and I'm currently waiting for my 6 week scan. Sending you best wishes x

@March2023CH you aren't too old but do yourself a big favour by moving forward with IVF this year. 40 and "over 40" are very different in fertility terms. Around 40% of your embryos should be chromosomally normal at 40. Within a couple of years this will fall to 15% - still not impossible but more reliant on luck.

Definitely not too old but for sure move forward with ivf. Don't hold off any longer.

I'm 41, had two kids before 30, got pregnant after 10 months trying at 41 and had a missed miscarriage. I can wait and try again but we decided to go for IVF with PGT-A just to reduce the risk and increase the success.

I would go for the ivf if I were you. I found it less stressful than trying naturally although I tried nearly 3 years before the ivf at 37.i did pgta also because of my age and miscarriage history. See how you get on naturally after the hsg though for a while maybe. I got pregnant the cycle I had one but lost that pregnancy
