Hydrosalpinx experiences?

Hi!

I have just had the joy of seeing probable hydrosalpinx on my scan report and wondered if anyone had experiences of this?

The internet seems to say surgery is the only treatment but has anyone had this?

I can't see my GP till the 19th so going mad in the meantime!!!

Hi, this might not be what you want to hear but I also had a hydrosalphinx show up on a scan after unsuccessfully trying for over a year. I was recommended for IVF but they said I should have it removed before trying IVF because it can half your chances. I was put on the NHS waiting list in London to have it removed around March last year and have yet to hear anything back still!! I actually paid to have it privately removed last November so that I could go ahead with an IVF appointment scheduled for December (this was cancelled due to staff sickness so just started the process in the last month). My partner also has on-the-lower-side quality sperm so that was also probably contributing to our lack of success because I think we potentially could have gotten pregnant with one fallopian tube. On the plus side, the actual procedure to have it removed was super straight forward and I was pretty much fine the next day. So annoying, I’m sorry that this has happened to you! But it is good to find out a reason for what’s going on!!

@LuckyRubyOtter thank you so much for your response!

I have an appointment with a consultant privately next month to go over options but I am hoping I can get surgery soon. Mine is probably from an ectopic I had last year that the EPU assured me wouldn't cause any damage to my tube but hello here we are!

Did you end up going for IVF in the end? Its been over 2.5 years of trying for us but this ectopic has taken the last year if the hydrosalpinx has stopped anything implanting and I am hesistant to keep trying naturally.
