Hi All

Has anyone’s partner had Clomid to improve sperm count and quality?

Ive read articles and journals regarding this working for male factor but it hasn’t been suggested either by GP or IVF clinic, and the articles I’ve read mainly seem to be by American clinics or just in scientific studies.

I was wondering if anyone had tried this in the UK and if so how they had gone about accessing it

My husband had normal SA but dna frag of 33% so was referred to a urologist (specialising in male infertility) by our fertility dr. Varicocoeles were the main culprit and were dealt with separately but labs done also revealed low testosterone. He was started on clomid but switched to anastrazole because clomid shot his oestradiol up. The urologist was private. The gp referred him to one in NHS for his varicoceles but wait list was six months and we’re not sure if he’ll be seen by someone specialising in male infertility so we decided to go private.

My husband had a consultation with a private urologist specialising in male fertility who prescribed a 3 month course of clomid before his sperm retrieval op.

During our first round of IVF our consultant prescribed my partner clomid, after I'd already started stims so needless to say there was no difference in the matter of weeks he took it.
Has your partner had a scan done? My partner had one after our first round and it was discovered he had a varicocele, he had the varicocele embellishment procedure done, took impryl for 3 months and cut right down on alcohol and our second round of IVF has gone soo much better, 1 poor grade embryo from round 1 to 10 strong embryos in round 2
Defo worth looking into! X
