Diagnosed today.
Contraception finished December 2023.
GP telephone call just said keep trying most people with PCOS can conceive naturally.
Fertility treatment cannot start until 2 years after TTC but to consider going private in 3-4 months time.
No mention of ovulation inducing medication.
Any idea how much private treatment for this medication will cost?

Hello,

I also have pcos and tried going through gp referral but every few months they would move my appointment forward. Finally I saw a doctor who basically just told me to loose weight (which i did) and that id conceive naturally then. Also, as this was for baby 2 she also said I already have a baby so ovulation induction etc would be difficult to do via nhs.
so we decided to go private and this was with an OBGYN rather than a clinic. I did ovulation induction with a trigger shot for around £1,300 per cycle. This may be more than some clinic but my doctor accepted all my tests done through the GP which I know some clinics dont.

I am currently on my second cycle of ovulation induction — just did my trigger shot yesterday!

definitely see if you can get a referral with your gp as obviously its not going to cost you anything and also they can do all the tests necessary to rule out any issues.

Also in terms of PCOS management try taking inositol although it didnt make me ovulate I do know it helps some people.

Hope it goes well for you!!

Hi @Itstime2023

not sure where you are in the country, but I was referred to a fertility clinic by my GP after around 6m of absent periods. I also have PCOS.

in the mean time I paid privately £250ish for the appointment. My husband had a semen analysis test done, approx £300, then once that was ok, I was prescribed letrozole.

took 9m for the NHS referral to arrive.

i am now back on NHS treatment for IVF, but it was definitely worth short cutting and paying for the private appointments for me.

That’s really good! I am in London and was seen at a clinic in Harley street.
