Cyclogest Shortage

Planning our 2nd FET with clinic and was told cyclogest was out of stock so they will prescribe vaginal Utrogestan instead. I have only ever used Cyclogest before for my 1 x fresh transfer and 1 x Fet.

I am worried I wont absorb utrogestan as well as I do with cyclgest, or that it will cause irritation/thrush in the vag. Has anybody had Utrogestan for FET? What were your experiences? Or if you’ve tried both, which do you prefer and why?

I have used Crinone gel before which was not pleasant (consistency).
I have used Utrogestan both oral and vaginal capsules (including on my successful FET).

Utrogestan in the UK comes with applicators a bit like tampon applicators. I also had treatment in Spain and Utrogestan there does not come with applicators and that was also fine. I’ve never had thrush with it, there is sometimes a creamy discharge from the capsule breaking down but nothing major.

If you are concerned about absorption perhaps you could get a progesterone blood test for reassurance.

Thanks for sharing! This is helpful to know and glad to hear utrogestan worked on your successful fet (congrats!!!). My clinic will do progesterone blood test before transfer day so thats reassuring. Hopefully I wont get any irritation as I once tried to use cyclogest vaginally and I felt slight irritation down there for few days.
