Is a testicular ultrasound needed?

Hi,

I'd be so grateful if anyone with personal experience can shed light on this please?

Secondary unexplained infertility here. Trying to rule out as much as possible before possibly calling it a day soon as it's been over 2 years. One of the things my husband hasn't had is a testicular ultrasound. We've already spent a fortune on investigations and failed ovulation induction rounds so want to ideally know if this is definitely needed before booking it. His last SA and DNA frag were fine according to consultant and andrologist so he queried whether you'd need to do the ultrasound if there were no signs of blockages? (He's happy to if needed obviously). Does anyone happen to know the answer to this? Have attached SA and DNA frag test results for reference.

Thanks so much!

I can’t see how an ultrasound would resolve anything assuming his sperm samples have been examined and the volume and mobility of the sperm is good enough for pregnancy. If his half of the process is looking good it’s you that needs further investigations- as shit as that prospect is. The clock’s ticking please don’t put it off any longer. From experience in my family going private was a great investment and had a happy outcome of a niece for me. Good luck.

Thanks so much for your reply. I've had full hormonal blood tests, progesterone test, a clear HyCoSy, several internal ultrasounds and two failed rounds of ovulation induction all done privately. I do sadly have rubbish AMH of 2.85 but there's little I can do about that besides optimising egg quality the best I can. This month I'm going to check my uterine microbiome via the Screenme test. I'm not sure what other tests I can do (without bankrupting myself!) but am always open to hearing suggestions. I'm so drained from it all. 😢 I had a c section with my first which is why I wondered about the possibility of microbiome issues as the risk of infection is increased.
