Day 3 embryo transfer - am I out?

Hi everyone, after a MMC last year and being unable to get pregnant for 6 months following, myself and my husband decided to pay privately for IVF using my frozen eggs that I had frozen 2 years ago. I’m now 40.

I had 15 eggs frozen, only one fertilised successfully and it was transferred on day 3 (10 cells) on 14th April. Since then I’ve had intermittent period and breast pain but it’s likely to be all the progesterone I’m on.

My OTD is Saturday but I stupidly did one today - 10 days post transfer and it’s negative. I’m so sad. Does anyone have any experience of day 3 transfers and when they got their BFP? Most of the stuff I read is for 5 day transfers.

I have three 3 day transfers.One took and it was positive at 7dp3dt.The other 2 I knew hadn't worked by 10dp3dt as I have had 2 other pregnancies(naturally but both ended in miscarriages) and they were positive by 10days post ovulation.Hopefully you just have a late implanter.x

@Running4pizza I imagine it would be 2 or 3 days later than whatever you've read for blastocysts.

@Running4pizza what was the result? I also got only one embryo from frozen eggs years ago, it really confused me as thought I’d get more. Did you go for another round if this didn’t work?

Hi, unfortunately it wasn’t successful for us. We are on our 5th round of IVF since then have had had another 2 failed transfers (including 1 euploid embryo). We just had an egg retrieval yesterday so still waiting for embryo results next week but along this process we have kind of lost hope. I know it only takes one and I really hope your one works for you. Have you transferred it yet?

@Running4pizza Argh found it today it failed! So frustrating.. so I’ll probably be going in for another round soon too! Trying to not lose hope but this journey is so testing! How are you doing?

@Sandra00 oh no I’m so sorry to hear that. I found the failure of my frozen eggs one of the most difficult parts on this journey. We find out tomorrow our day 5 embryo numbers from this current cycle (we are doing Duostim abroad but actually the first half went so badly and we ended up with no embryos to transfer). Do you have any ideas where you might go next?

@Running4pizza Yeh I found that the hardest part too, I had thought those eggs were my lifeline for so long. I always felt safe having them as an insurance policy. Then was so devastated that they had such poor results.. did you find out why you did? Out of interest did you get your partner to do sperm tests like DNA fragmentation? I haven’t yet but think need to do that next! I think I’m going to do one more round here then maybe go abroad if need to. Is it a lot cheaper? Good luck.. I really hope you get a good embryo! Let me know.. have you had a day 3 update yet?

@Sandra00 i asked my clinic why I’d had such bad results - they blamed my eggs. I’m not sure I agree as I’ve had more eggs collected since which have formed blastocysts at a much older age (with a different clinic).

we had done 3 cycles with create after this - mild IVF and they focus on quality rather than quantity which I liked. They’re really expensive though. Prague was about half the price, we didn’t get good results with our first half of Duostim. Got 3 embryos with the second half and just waiting for PGT testing results now as couldn’t face anymore failed transfers or miscarriages.

do you know where you’re thinking of going if you do a cycle in the UK?

@Running4pizza My clinic blamed it on the eggs too! I also moved clinic as lost faith in them and just about to go through another retrieval in a week. Thank god we are both still getting eggs and blastocysts after losing our younger eggs!
Do you have embryos stored up with Mild or did you use them?

@Sandra00 that’s great that you’re starting a new round next week - hope it all goes well! I have been so unsure re PGT, part of me wonders whether to transfer without testing but we’ve done that twice before and it failed.

We had embryos stored but lost them all after PGT as they thawed them all to do the procedure. 4 didn’t survive the thawing process and then 5 were anuploid, 1 was euploid and we transferred that one in December thinking that would work but that was a chemical pregnancy :(

@Running4pizza I’m so sorry, how you getting on with this cycle? I think I’m getting mine PGT a tested before they freeze them just to make sure they’re okay but it is a lot of money!

Hi @Sandra00 how did you get on this cycle? I’m still in the limbo waiting period between cycles to start. We think we might have one more month off while focusing on supplements etc and then try again. Hopefully with growth hormone this time! Hope you had a good round 😊

@Running4pizza I had 3 5 day blastocysts.. was over the moon as 2 seemed really good quality but these were both aneuploid unfortunately! But then the 5BC was euploid… I’m happy to have one but also think I may go in for another round.. I ideally want 2 before I transfer! This is such a journey! I’m exhausted!
