In all honesty, I found the egg collection the easiest part of the entire process as I was also sedated. I had a small amount of pain/discomfort when urinating for about 12 hours afterwards.

Good luck!

I didn’t unfortunately, but we hope to try again in July. It was our first time and I gather that it is uncommon to work the first time around, and it’s a bit of an investigation.

Unfortunately I also didn’t get any embryos to freeze which was a surprise to all as my results were good; the only reason they could give that it hadn’t been more successful was that I found it so stressful. I am waiting to find out how I can not find it stressful (!!!!) for next time.

I wish you all the luck in the world :)

I had mine today under sedation. I did feel quite apprehensive but the staff at my clinic were very lovely and looked after me. I was very teary before because I was nervous, and felt quite overwhelmed when I came to and had a little cry even though I had a promising result. The doctor said she finds people are either tearful or giddy on the meds. I felt fine emotionally after about a hour and once I’d had something to eat. The discomfort afterwards has been a bit worse than I anticipated, ok if lying down but moving about is quite uncomfortable. I recommend planning to go to bed/sofa for the rest of the day after your procedure! Good luck x

My other bit of advice is if you’re nervous to talk to the clinic about what the start of the procedure will be like before you are sedated. For example someone I know who had EC at a different clinic said they put her legs in stirrups before sedating, and it was an all male team. My clinic sedated me before anything like that happened and I think it was better. Not sure which is more common or even if it would bother you. I also asked the clinic if it would be all female medical staff and they explained it would be, unless there was some kind of last minute cover arranged. Again I don’t know if that would be important to you or not but it would be ok to ask.

That’s great, really happy for you and fingers crossed they all progress well 💗

How has your recovery from the EC gone?

I was quite optimistic when I was told 6 fertilised as this was more than expected, but update today on day 5 none are ok to freeze yet, one looks ok so hopeful it will freeze tomorrow. I have three other blastocysts but they’re poor quality. Hope an extra day means some catch up but I’m trying to be realistic, I might only get one of average quality. Not the news I hoped, and I’m doing a freeze all as now isn’t good to try a transfer, so it’s quite anxiety inducing.
