Amh of 0.95 ??

Hi girls, I am 39 years old and was told today that my AMH is 0.95. My doctor told me that it looked like my "ovaries were done" 🙄 Any idea what an AMH of 0.95 actually means. Like, how bad is this result? I am still getting a period every month, however they are varying in length from month to month. Does anyone have experience of this please? I am awaiting a referral for a free round of IVF.

Hello, I didn’t want to read and run. Sorry for the stress this must have caused you! I am surprised they didn’t elaborate on this other than the unhelpful comment.

I can’t go into proper stats or anything but when I was 32 my AMH was 12 which I was told by the fertility clinic was average for my age. However as AMH is only an indicator of quantity, you may have elite quality eggs when it comes to it. You’ll only get proper answers via a clinic and egg quality I believe can’t be assessed until they’ve been collected.

I would look into how you can help via diet and supplements asap so you’re in the best position possible by the time you get to your fertility appointments.

Best of luck!

@Chrissyxxx AMH is an estimate of ovarian reserve and how your ovaries will respond to stimulation.

Have you been trying to conceive for long and do you know your FSH level?

An AMH at this level will mean that one or two eggs are likely to be collected via IVF. It's therefore possible that trying naturally may be as good unless you have male factor issues.

It may be worth paying to see a specialist to ask about a DHEA prescription. This can sometimes increase androgen levels and AMH.

Btowngirl,
Thanks for your response. I appreciate you taking the time out for me. I will definitely be proceeding with the IVF referral and fingers crossed they can give me further information that will make me feel a bit more hopeful.

Thanks sirensong,
I'll definitely look in to those suggestions. And we are going to continue trying naturally in the mean time. I've had an ectopic pregnancy in the past resulting in one tube removal, followed by three early miscarriages, followed by one successful baby so time will tell what is next for us.

@Chrissyxxx had my results yesterday and told my amh is 0.3! I was so shocked and have been told ivf wouldn’t be an option for us.
i also don’t ovulate by myself so that’s not really an option to try naturally either. still waiting for male results but it’s been a massive shock as was expecting worse case scenario that ivf would have been an option!

Peonies94,
Thanks for your response. I'm sorry to hear you didn't get good news either. It's such a shock when you're not expecting to be told something like that. I'm surprised at them saying IVF isn't an option though. My sister had an AMH of 0.073 or something undetectable like that and she had a baby last year. That was after a good bit of help and eventually egg donation is the road she took, which maybe isn't for everyone but she had her baby in the end. Just not in the traditional way she envisaged. Living her best life now though.
I hope you're doing okay and that you have plenty of support with this news x

@Chrissyxxx i think they meant ivf wouldn’t be viable with my own eggs. So my amh was 0.3 pmol or 0.05 ng so again basically non existent!
we briefly spoke out whether we would use egg donation and we had lots of questions/thoughts about it, but I think it is something we could consider, just need to try and weigh up our options really and make sure our eggs is really not an option!
thsnk you. Just came as such a shock to me at 32 and wish I’d been testing long ago to find out this! Maybe something could have been done then!
so glad to hear that she’s super happy now though ❤️
good luck to you as well!
