Final scan follicle sizes - is 22+ too big for day before trigger?

Hi all, I just had my final scan with the following follicle sizes (I have low AMH, 6 total follicles):
10,14,18,18,20,22+ (she said almost 23)

They want me to continue meds tonight then trigger tomorrow, egg collection Monday. I am a bit concerned that Monday is too late for the 22+ size. I was expecting to trigger tonight then collect on Sunday. The nurse didn’t give an explanation apart from she discussed it with my consultant so I’ve emailed him to get some assurance that we’re not collecting too late. They are the experts I know but I want to understand their thought process.

What do you guys think?

We had the same with 4 follicles also a low AMH. We had one at 22 and one at 21 and the other two were below the line around 10mm.

there was a couple of really tiny ones around 6mm that wouldn’t catch up.

we carried on with meds and triggered later as they said and to our amazement we got 8 eggs on collection day which was a couple of weeks ago and far beyond our expectations! They said it was to ensure they were mature when collecting as our previous cycles only resulted in one embryo. Of this cycle all 8 were mature and 6 fertilised. Two made it to day 5 and was both transferred last Monday

We had a scan Friday and was expecting them to tell us to trigger then but the doctor looked and said to come back Monday and scan so we purchased more meds and took them Friday night Saturday night and Sunday night on Mondays scan they told us to trigger than night for collection on the weds. So 3 extra days of stims for us

@wishinghard2 thanks for sharing! How were your follicle sizes on Monday’s scan?

On the Monday scan there was one large one on my left which was around 26/25 then 3 on my right around 24 and 17 and 18. The rest were showing around 9mm and 10 but must have caught up by the collection on weds to allow them to have gotten 8. I think because there wasn’t loads of follicles they were not so many risks as they had the room to grow/be large

@wishinghard2 thank you so much, you made me feel so much better. I hope I get to be as lucky as you! I just gave myself my last stims and then triggering later this evening. My husband has a really, really bad cough and colds but I try to remain positive and hope for success. Best of luck to us both.

@wishinghard2 amazing results. What was you protocol? And combination of meds on the last cycle?
I have AMH 6.2. Did 3 cycles of stimulation and on the first two they collected 10 follicles but only 5 were matured, out of which on the 1st round we got 1 good embryo, the second round nothing fertilised, and the 3rd round was a total disaster only 6 follicles collected (thought scans were showing 9), 1 mature egg and 2 matured already outside, and nothing fertilized.

@NightingaleK they didn’t really change much to be honest. The first two cycles when we had 3 eggs collected and 1 fertilised we had Gonal F 225ml

the 3rd cycle we had pergoveris 300ml which was increased for 350 for the last 5 days. Oh we also had ovitrelle and buserelin as a trigger on this last cycle where as we have never had buserelin before. This is the one where we got 8 eggs. 6 fertilised. 2 made it to day 5 (one a blast and one a compaction) and we had both transfered. None for freezing. We are waiting the result. Our test date is Thursday

How were your results ? I'm in the same boat, but with 3 follicles and thinking I'm triggering too early. A 17.5, 13.5 and a 9. But DR wants me to trigger tmrw night and I think it might be too early.

I got 4 mature eggs from this cycle which was less than my first one. The 22+ didn’t make it I think so I was disappointed at the time I was told about the result of the retrieval. However, this was actually my successful cycle! I recently gave birth to my beautiful baby - he was the only one that made it to blastocyst from this cycle. I wish you the very best of luck!
