Hello iv just recently had my frozen transfer cycle cancelled due to thin lining

the first nurse gave me progesterone pessaries to take for 5 days to induce mt period. However when another nurse phoned to confirm definite cancelled cycle she told me to stop all meds, I asked about the pessaries and she said not to take them and just allow my body to recover it’s self. The problem I have with this is I’m not sure how long that will take? Im fed up of the constant waiting game with ivf.

has anyone any experience with this? Should I take the pessaries to induce my period as instructed by the first nurse? This bleed could take 2 weeks to arrive if I don’t! then I need to wait on my next period cycle to get started again!

as you can tell I’m totally exhausted by this.

had 2 failed cycles already. Egg collection was November 2022 😪

Hi @paulliee sorry you had your cycle cancelled, I had the same thing happen because of thin lining in January and its really shit!

My understanding is progesterone will delay your period as its keeping the lining intact, so when you stop all meds, you'll get your period. I had a failed FET last month and my period started a few days after I stopped the oestrogen and progesterone. After my cancelled FET I hadn't yet started the progesterone, only oestrogen, and think my period started in under 1 week. Sounds like you've been given some conflicting advice from your clinic, but stopping meds makes the most sense to me - maybe give them a call to confirm!

Thank you so much for replying. Sorry to hear about your failed/cancelled cycles too it’s honestly soul crushing. My failed transfer my period arrived after 3 days also, il just stop all meds and hope my period arrives soon. Another waiting game 😪 it feels like it’s never ending. X

@paulliee totally empathise with the never ending feeling, it's so so tough having to start over again! I keep feeling like it's never going to work out and feeling so fed up with it, but will keep going in the hope for better luck next time! I hope you have better luck with your next cycle xx

I know this is an older post but was anything done different on your next FET? This was supposed to be my 3rd (my first 2 transfers my lining only just hit 7mm so will still on the thin side) but today I've been for my second lining scan and my lining is 5.2mm so cancelled my transfer that was planned for next week, I am gutted 😢

Hello sorry im just seeing this post.

iv started mt next transfer in November ( natural this time instead of medicated) and unfortunately they have cancelled it again today as my lining only got to 7 again. So frustrating beginning to think my multiple mc are due to lining issues now….

they did however say they plan on doing my next transfer as a medicated cycle again and doing the estrogen injections instead of tablets as apparently it mimics ur body better than the tablets. The only thing is having to wait again for my next period… call up and hope they give me a slot! Which is so frustrating as they can’t guarantee it although iv had 2 cancelled cycles in a row 😢

did they nurses say about trying something new with you?

So sorry you've had another cancelled cycle. I had lots of problems with thin lining, for my 3rd FET attempt my Dr put me back on ivf stims to grow my own follicles a bit to produce my own orwstrogen - as the oestrogen pessaries, patches and pills just weren't working for me, even at max dose. The stims worked much better and I was on them about 6 days, and my lining got to 7. Given it had always been thin, my Dr said that was good to go, he wasn't fussed about gettingover 7, and trilaminar appearance more important than a specific number, and I triggered for transfer. It was successful and I'm now almost 31 weeks with that embryo.

Sorry you had another cancelled transfer, it is soo frustrating. After my cancelled transfer I did progesterone for 5 days to bring on a bleed then I was able to go again straight away, I was already on 3 patches a day but they added 3 tablets too and my lining did get thicker, I can't quite remember the exact thickness I want to say around 8mm but the transfer was successful and I'm 8 weeks today! Best of luck xx
