Male Genetic Testing

We had a follow up today and I was fully expecting to discuss treatment plans etc. however we’ve now been hit with another obstacle before we can achieve that 💔

We’ve now been told my partner has to have the genetic testing for Y chromosome microdeletions, karyotype and cystic fibrosis. Due to severely low numbers. This is fine, we’ll pay for them if that’s what we have to do.

I was just wondering what happens if any of them come back as positive/confirmed? Is there a way forward with treatment?

Hi! I’m not an expert, but this article talks about IVF with ICSI as a common approach for male factor infertility: https://fertilityroad.com/mag/ivf-techniques-to-help-male-factor-infertility/. If karyotyping results are positive, a doctor might also recommend IVF with PGD to help screen embryos before transfer. Hope this helps a little!

@blacksnow thank you 😊 after thinking about it all weekend and talking it over with family we’ve actually emailed the clinic requesting we don’t do the genetic blood tests as we want to PGT test our embryos anyway. I’m hoping the clinic will say it’s ok 😬
