4th FET coming up - anyone in the same boat

Hi all, I have my fourth embryo transfer coming up on Monday and am feeling so nervous! Wondered if anyone out there is in the same boat?

Brief summary of our IVF journey so far.
we’ve been diagnosed with unexplained infertility - I am 32 years old and hubby is 37.

  • 1st egg collection only created two blastocysts - did one fresh transfer and one frozen and both transfers failed to implant (untested embryos)
  • 2nd egg collection - created 7 blastocysts - did a fresh transfer of a 5AA untested embryo which also failed

I’ve now moved clinics (to the Evewell) and got our remaining 6 embryos tested, 3 of which came back PGT normal. Also did ERA/EMMA/ALICE/NK cells testing.

Everything came back generally ok but changes to my protocol include extra estradiol, prednisalone, Clexane, lubion (this was not standard at my previous clinic), a HCG shot pre and post transfer and baby aspirin.

It’s tough to feel hopeful after 3 failed attempts but I’m praying the clinic change, the tested embryo and change in protocol will help this time! trying to be as good as possible with diet etc but there’s only so much pomegranate and Brazil nuts I can take 😅

would love to hear from anyone that’s on a similar journey!

Hi @Froyo7 I've only had one failed FET to date, hopefully doing a 2nd soonish but just wanted to say it sounds like you're doing everything you can to set yourself up in the best position possible, fingers crossed it works this time! There's a good chance with everything you've done.

I've just been weighing up whether to do alice/emma/era and decided not to for now, if another FET doesn't work then we will but I've done NK testing and will be on prednisolone, plus a hysteroscopy to sort out issues there... and doing a microbiome test to see if any issues without going the whole hog on alice/emma!

Good luck, sending you baby dust

Hi @Orangewillow! Thank you so much for your post - wishing you the best of luck with your next transfer as well! It’s so hard not to overthink things isn’t it. Yes sounds like a good plan - I’ve heard of alternative microbiome tests you can do as the era/emma/alice is expensive!

Nothing really came out of mine to be honest but good to know there weren’t any glaring issues. What clinic are you with? have you don’t PGT testing on your embryos?

@Froyo7 thank you, I really feel I'm due some good luck so I'm hoping 2nd time is the charm for us!

I'm at The Lister, who have been great - the evewell was another place I considered, I find Emma the Embryologists instagram content about IVF so helpful.

Yes we did pgta testing on everything, that was my primary reason for doing Ivf tbh as we have had a TFMR for a chromosomal abnormality as well as a chemical so I was worried about this, also I'm now 38 so risks only go up. Would love a shot at a 2nd kid in a couple of years as well (assuming we manage to get to one..) so I'm hoping our frosties will get us there!
