Progestrone check - FET

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me. I had a FET yesterday and am taking Cyclogest 3x a day. However I am worried that I have not had a blood test and have been told I don’t need one. How do the clinic know my progesterone levels are high enough?

Are you doing a natural or medicated cycle?

Medicated…

Hi Op, sorry for the slow reply. I’ve done 3 medicated FETs (via NHS) and they all tested on the day of transfer. Having said that if you’re not having any spotting it’s probably fine. If the clinic won’t test you could always do this elsewhere if you want the reassurance, I’ve used Ultrasound direct previously but there are lots of places. Good luck!

Thanks @Zypig.

I FET on Monday (24th) and had my progesterone levels checked on Wednesday (26th). They have come back as 48.3nmol/L - do you think this is an adequate range to support implantation? I’m just waiting to hear from clinic.

I understand they will only get higher as I am using 3 Cyclogest (400mg) a day, but am worried they have been too low during the critical period.

Mine was 50.7 on transfer day (natural/non medicated transfer) and I'm now 20 weeks pregnant. The clinic wanted anything over 30 so your result looks good and plenty over that! Obviously check with the clinic to be sure 😊

Per PP, I was told anything over 30 was the target as well.

My clinic don’t test either - not even with me spotting. They said as it was a fresh transfer my ovaries are naturally producing progesterone (and a lot of it) + the medication that it’s pretty impossible for me to be low.
I think previous blood tests have not suggested I was low so perhaps why they’re not really entertaining checking. Hope you’re ok!

Hi All,
Can I join?
I got a transfer tomorrow. Had a progesterone blood test done two days before transfer day. They said my level was 65.1 . I assume it is nmol/l and that it is high enough for fet as they say?

BeetleBear · 04/11/2025 10:09

Hi there. My progesterone levels have always been extremely low. I have my first FET booked for next Monday but they say they don’t routinely check progesterone beforehand. Wondering how you all got on? I’m worried that 800mg cyclogest a day won’t cut it. I’m considering going to get a private test.

My progesterone was checked two days before FET (medicated cycle) and at that point after 3 days of Ultragestan it was 32.1.The clinic target was above 45 so prescribed me prontogest from the evening of FET. It was never checked again. Cycle failed so on my next attempt they have decided to use prontogest from 5 days before FET. Unsure if that is the cause as the guideline is ‘30’

I was having Cyclogest 2 x times a day before FET and on the transfer day they checked the Progesterone and it was very low - 7.7 and they wanted to see at least 35. The dr even asked if I’m really taking them. Then from the same day they increased to 3 x Cyclogest a day plus injectable progesterone everyday.
