Too many follicles!

I’ve been having fertility treatment and I take clomiphene citrate (Ovinum) on days 2-6 of my cycle. I went today for the ultrasound and to inject to start ovulation and my ultrasound showed 6 follicles, so the clinic has cancelled this cycle and told me not to TTC.

should I try anyway? Has anyone else had too many follicles and still tried?

I had two follicles the last few months and got nothing. So doesn’t this just increase my chances of getting at least one? The chances of 3+ must still be so so slim, right?

I don’t want to take health risks but I don’t want to waste a month either! ☹️

Thanks!

And just to add. They said 6, but I’m not sure all should be classed as mature enough to be considered?

Average diameters (taken from 2 diameters)

L1 - 18.1
L2 - 16.2
L3 - 13.7
L4 - 9.8

R1 - 22.7
R2 - 14.7

My clinic stated at the last appointment that they cancel a cycle if there are 3 or more 14+ follicles.

So it wouldn't classify all 6 of yours, but it would still have been cancelled their side. To be honest, I think I would try this month. I'd find it very hard not to. But I don't know all the risks etc and it would probably make me very anxious.

You don't mention your age but I think you shouldn't risk it, particularly if you are under 35. If you did happen to conceive triplets would you want to deal with the major health risks to you and the babies through pregnancy? Or even be required to consider selective reduction?

Good luck with your journey.

Thank you. I’m turning 36 next month and have been trying for over a year now 😕 The pills are meant to increase our chances but then we are told not to ttc which would mean our chances this month are 0, so it just all seems counterproductive 😫

Thank you. Yeah I don’t think a few of the smaller ones should have been counted. I know clinics are cautious, I just wonder if they’re too cautious. Actually where I live rarely recommend even a natural birth, they’ll always push for c-section, they like to control as much as possible.. And with IVF they’ll never transfer more then 1 embryo.
