Endometrial Test For Immune Response/Natural Killer Cell & Endometritis Experience

Has anyone done endometrial biopsy and tests to check for endometrial function, i.e. not too robust to implant (immune response) or inflammation (endometritis)?

Our doctor suggested the Implantation Clinic, which has a super long waiting list (mid-May 2025 the earliest consultation), that does biopsy and test for both natural killer cells and endometritis. I found that London Women's Clinic has an implantation clinic as well but unsure they test for endometritis.

We had 3 failed FETs, so keen to investigate all possible causes so can move on to the next round of FETs...
Many thanks!

Sorry should clarify the 1st May waiting-list one is the Warwick Medical School (UHCW)-affiliated. https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/med/research/biomedical/tem/clinic/

If anyone has been there or have done similar tests, would be grateful to hear your experience!

I had ERA/EMMA/ALICE test after my 5th fail. The ERA picked up they were transferring the embryo a day too late. Got my 6th transfer booked in for this Sunday. They also found out I have a t shaped uterus which isnt great. Also, I am taking blood thinner injections, which are a killer.

Hi
I was about to do this after 4 failed transfers, instead I did the female microbiome test from
DAYE which was a lot cheaper and basically told me my health anatomically and if I had any endometritis. It also told me to take more probiotics to improve my gut health as that improves fertility and 2 months later I got pregnant with twins in my FET!

hi sorry I hope you don’t mind me jumping on an old thread but can I ask how you got on with your treatment after this please?

I have had 4 embryos transferred now and none have implanted at all, they’re untested but I’m worried that they’ll be aneuploid. Did you have another round after this? Hope it has worked out for you!

Hi @TSHconfusion , I am in doing the ERA/EMMA/ALICE test soon. It takes some time to schedule and need to do a mock cycle for all this. We ended up going with CRGH as they can do 4 tests in one biopsy. They also suggested hysteroscopy as investigation for repeated implantation failures. Hope this helps.

Interested to hear how you get on OP, I discussed doing EMMA/ALICE/ERA with my Dr after 1 failed FET.

Currently I'm not planning to do them, but have had a hysteroscopy since my failed FET and done an invivo microbiome test that I'm waiting on results for to get an indication of there's anything going on there, but if another FET fails will look into them. There seems to be a lot of mixed opinions about them, although my clinic is pro them, which doesn't help when trying to make a decision!

@worldwidetravel2017 I'm on prefilled clexane. The bruises they leave when I assume you hit a blood vessel, the size of my palm 😭 they said, when an FET sticks, I'll need them until 12 weeks!

Hi @Orangewillow , I did the quartet ERA/EMMA/ALICE/NK cells together with hysteroscopy in the end. EMMA & ALICE tests found a bad bacteria streptococcus and NK cells gave me a low decidualization score. So now i'm on antibiotics and got Vagibiom and Bio.Me probiotics on the follow. My consultant suggested repeat test of EMMA/ALICE/NK cells in 2 months, so I probably do them in 2 clinics separately to save some money.
Anxious, but overall it's good the tests found something for me to work on, after almost 2 years of IVF journey.

Following on from my ERA results coming back and they were transferring a day too late. My first attempt at FET number 6 was cancelled due to bleeding, the 2nd attempt went ahead and was successful. I'm currently 9+3. These test should be automatic and not suggested after so many failed tries.
