My husband and I are exploring IVF options (letrozole hasn't worked for us). Can anyone give us hints/tips on how to choose a clinic and what questions to ask?... Or what clinics have you used that were good? I'm open to going abroad to keep costs down. We don't want donor eggs or sperm just IVF preferably with ICSI. Thanks 🙏

Hi! I think it depends on what ‘help’ you need. In my area there’s clinics that specialize in different things. Female factor/ male factor, older age etc. So picking a clinic that specializes in what you need will help with your outcome. Abroad clinics near me are: Juana Crespo in Valencia who specializes in difficult female factor & older maternal age and Clinic Irema in Gandía, both in Spain. The price difference in comparison to the UK is quite large but obviously you have to factor in the flights & hotel etc. Best of luck 🍀

We funded ours through Access where we paid for a package that included 2 fresh rounds and unlimited frozen transfers. We chose TFP Oxford partly because it was closest but also the research they do (and proximity to Oxford uni of course) sounded promising. We have been really pleased with them and I’m now 14 weeks pregnant. Our first round failed due to total fertilisation failure but they fixed my medication and the second round we ended up with 6 blastocysts! One of them (our first transfer) is my current pregnancy.

They were really great to deal with throughout and I felt reassured we were in good hands.

cost wise with Access it was about £11k for the package I think. We didn’t qualify for any refund schemes but they do those as well.

I'm at the Lister in London and rate them highly so far (not there yet!), but it's been an expensive process for sure.

I went by word of mouth recommendations and also distance/ease of travel was a consideration. I did see some review sites and look at their stats too.

I follow Emma the Embryologist on instagram/listen to her Podcasts and she's done quite a bit about what to look for in a clinic and what questions to ask them to get a sense of how they work and if they are a good fit for you, she's got loads of helpful IVF advice more generally as well so worth a read/listen. The clinic stuff might be more UK based though.

@Orangewillow i just sent my details and previous test results to the Lister at the Portland this evening! We were given the choice between TFP Clinics, Care or HCA Lister.

I was impressed by Listers success rates in under 35s and they responded to my initial call quickly and sent over lots of information

Hi, we're currently going through IVF abroad, with Ark ivf in athens. Also tried Letrozole that didn't work for me.
Had the egg collection in February with icsi, they're all really lovely and also speak good English! I knew I was going with this clinic from the beginning so I've not had any consultations with other clinics x

Would also recommend Lister in Chelsea, who have given us two wonderful children.

Here’s a really helpful article on the seven essential questions to ask a clinic before starting your treatment. If you're considering IVF with your own eggs, you can tailor them to fit your situation. Hope this helps

Hi @Lja100 , we are also looking at this clinic! Currently between Ark and Newlife, as NL offers guarantees, but Ark does not (but has really great reviews for its modern approach).
What made you choose Ark? x

To be honest I never looked at any other clinics, I knew from the beginning I'd go with Ark, just because of the successes I've seen, especially with women with Endometriosis and PCOS. Dr George is just lovely. Sorry I can't be of more help, I've only had egg collection so far x

Please update us how things went with Ark?
Many thanks

I haven't been back for my transfer yet, so can't comment on that part. There's a Facebook group for Ark with lots of info on x

Hi @Orangewillow did you decide? I wanted to add that now I’m in the system with Lister at the Portland, they’ve been so responsive and helpful. There was some confusion with the admin team of what tests I needed - the nurse rang me today (Easter Monday) to clarify everything after I emailed yesterday. They’ve been so on top of all the documents too. There can be a lot sent at different times and despite an initially cumbersome registration, it’s a lot smoother now.

I had success in greece /serum ivf.
They have an amazing team and a state of the art clinic with everything in house(not cooperate with a big hospital clinic) !
In my case (42yo low amh) prp with grow factors saved the game!
I found them after numerous recommendation's and they offer free doctors consultation. I recommend them 100%. Good luck !

Mandulaa · 06/05/2025 19:47

Hi, we're in Serum IVF too, in Athens. I can just recommend them, they were really thorough and supportive. First transfer start of last month and so far really promising (7w 1d 🤞)
