Long v short- egg quality

Hello you lovely lot,
I am seeking the wisdom, experiences and advice of you all!!

I have the label of ‘unexplained’ infertility.

I am considering another round of IVF (first round ended with chemical/ second ended in MC). I also have had a natural pregnancy also ending in a MC.

I have eggs and both cycles have yielded blasts. However my other blasts have been graded CC quality or below and my clinic discarded those. First round a 4BB and second round a 5BB.

I sought a second opinion after as I have put myself through a battery of tests which have all come back fine (including my husband- sperm dna etc) I also had the product of conception tested and it had TRI 16. They looked at my embryology reports from the rounds and were able to determine that my blasts begin to struggle by day 3, being behind in cells. They were lovely but feel poor egg quality is the reasons. Apparently tri 16 usually comes from the egg. (I am taking all the supplements currently and trying red light therapy) They have recommended I ask my clinic to try short protocol this time as they think long protocol and the down regulation could be too harsh for my eggs.

So, my question is; did anyone switch from long to short? What was the impact on the amount of eggs collected? Did you see a change in the quality of blasts created?

Hi, I had to rounds of IVF. I’m 42 with low AMH 4.2.
The first one was a short protocol with 10 days stimulation (Minopur 375 dosage). 2 leading follicules and the rest a small / slow development. They collected - 11 follicles and only 4 were mature and fertilized. 3 developed into embryos, 1 healthy blastocyst on day 5, one stopped growing on day 4 and another got to blastocyst on day 7. The clinic recommended pgt-a (and us being new to the process, agreed to it. If I wouldn’t have been doing it now I wouldnt do it now and would go to fresh transfer with both embryos). PGT-A test came as 1 embryo is good and the other is abnormal. So, I went to FET with the healthy embryo and sadly no implantation (explanation - bad luck).
For the second round, the clinic recommended to go with the long protocol (to even follicles growth). I’ve started taking a nasal spray twice a day 2 wks before the period (suppressing my hormones) and then the spray was reduced to 1 sniff a day and menopur of 375. There were not much of follicles development On day 5 of stimulation so they increased my dosage of minopur to 450. I’ve ended up with 18 days of stimulation. 10 eggs collected, 4 mature and zero fertilised and high progesterone on the day of eggs collection (again the explanation - bad luck) The conclusion is that the long protocol didn’t work for me.
