Hi everyone just looking for advice about cervical stitches
I had LLetz procedure years ago, and got diagnosed with short cervix late into my current IVF pregnancy! Measurements are;

2.5mm @ 20 weeks- started on progesterone suppositories
2.3mm @ 22 weeks

Drs have advised me on getting cervical stitch as the progesterone hasn’t worked, but have put the decision in my hands. They have agreed to give me one more week to think about it and rescan next week when I’m 23/24 weeks (nhs cut off for the stitch)

Does anyone have any success stories about getting the cervical stitch? I’m really worried about the risk of infection or any harm to the baby? How short was your cervix length when you had it or decided it against it, how long did you go before giving birth? Also, as I’m a nurse I’m worried that if I don’t get it I’ll be on my feet for long hours and it might shorten quicker ! help!

Hi OP, I don’t have experience sorry, but just to flag you might be better off posting this in the pregnancy forum as you’re more likely to get others with experience there.

@CEllenx hi, I have short cervix and both my kids were born premature, 20+ and 10 years ago, both managed to carry till 32 and 33w.

My second pregnancy was in the UK under NHS, they measured at 20w my cervix was 2cm and told me too late for the stitch, better to do before 18w. Put on progesterone suppositories and weekly scan monitoring. Cervix got to 0.2 cm. At 28w went into labour but they managed to stop and then prepared the baby for early delivery at 33w. Delivery was really fast, no problems. Both kids are healthy.
We are still planning a 3d and was told definitely to put stitches early on as another risk of premature baby.

Sorry but don't know how risky to put stitches later after 20w. Hoping you will deliver a healthy baby at the end xx
