7mm womb lining for transfer

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone out there can offer me some guidance/ reassurance. I’ve been driving myself a little bit mad all weekend!

I had an egg collection with ABC St Paul’s in December. It all went well and I am lucky enough to have some great looking embryos in the freezer. I had to do opt for a an FET due to risk of OHSS- I have PCOS.

I am finally due for transfer next week!

-I was taking estradiol 4mg per day up until day 8. At that point my lining was 6.8mm

-Then on day 11 I was still just 6.9mm so they increased my dose to 6mg of estradiol

-Then on day 15 I went up to JUST over 7mm. So they increased my dose to 8mg per day to give it an extra boost. And I was told to start progesterone the next day (day 16.) I’m on 600mg per day.

ABC seems happy with the thickness albeit on a slimmer side and the quality and bloody flow etc, but I’m just really concerned that we should be playing closer attention- or attempting to increase it. Or, even delaying transfer. I know 7mm is the ‘minimum’ for most clinics- but does that minimum often relate to failed implantation?

should I demand a scan/ progesterone level bloody test the day before transfer? Even though I increased my estradiol dosage day before introducing progesterone, I have read that once progesterone is introduced my lining will like decrease 😔
any advice greatly appreciated- or any success stories from fellow thing liners would be great to hear!

Thank you! Xxxx

Hi @Hjoseph05 not a success story, but my clinic have said they'll consider transferring under 7mm and that the triple layer appearance is more important than a very strict number. They'd rather over 7mm but as I'm currently heading for a 2nd cancelled FET for thin lining, they said there is some wiggle room! The most recent Dr I spoke to said the odds of it working a little below 7mm are not much different to if it was hitting 7. Obv higher better but sometime you have to take what you can get! So it might be your clinic aren't super fussed about the difference from 6.9 to over 7 - it's a really small measurement!

@Orangewillow thankyou so much for taking the time to reply- what you have said is extremely helpful and reassuring. I think you’re right- I just need to work with what we have!! Best of luck with your transfer ❤️

@Hjoseph05 I had a scan today and my lining is 6.8 and they've booked me for transfer next week! Dr said it's such a minor different to 7 that they're happy to go ahead. Really wasn't expecting it and am already feeling nervous!

@Orangewillow so glad yours is all good to go too! Is is your first one? This is my first one. I should get a call today to see how the defrosting is going! I’m with ABC and they do something a little different- they froze ‘the best looking’ on day 3 and then they culture it to a day 5 and aim to transfer that one- if it’s looking better than our best day 5. It’s all so complicated 🤣

@Hjoseph05 yes first FET for me! Good luck, keeping everything crossed for you on the defrosting xx
