OTD 16dp5dt...Wtf?

Anyone else think this is absolutely crazy? What do your clinic recommend?

In all my successful (and unsuccessful) pregnancies I've had positives at 5dp5dt or 7dp3dt. Even if it's a chemical, I want to know. If it's negative, I don't want to be in the bloody drugs longer than necessary!

Absolutely no way I'll be waiting til day 16.

Yeah that’s nuts.. 12dp5dt for me. As it was a fresh transfer, can’t take it earlier really as could have false positive from trigger shot.

Hi OP,

my clinic are the same it’s madness 😂 I tested at 5dp5dt and told them about 10dp,they didn’t acknowledge until 16dp though 😂

Ha, yeah I'm a 5dp5dt tester, if it's a FET. I just don't understand why they make it so ludicrously long. Surely it's better to come off the drugs if it's not worked (high doses of estrogen, progesterone, steroids, blood thinners, antibiotics etc) 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't stop drugs at 5dp to be fair, usually keep going til 10 or 12 do just in the very tiny off chance. Always feel guilty going against what they so, if they were more sensible I'd comply but feels ridiculous.

Hi! What does the dp dt stand for? I'm trying to get my head round this abbreviation!
Just done ICSI hoping for ET on Monday.

KenIsAnAccessory · 13/02/2025 13:22

DP = days past
DT= day transfer

So 5dp5dt is 5 days past a 5 day transfer.

So wow you mean you've been asked to test more than 2 weeks post embryo transfer!! 16 days, That is insane!!

Iv got reliable 28 day cycles every-single-month so I'll test like a normal when I hopefully miss my period this month on day 28 of my cycle, which in reality will be 9dp5dt.

In the past ICSI pregnancies I got a positive test if I was pregnant by 9dp5dt!!

Thank you for the explanation!

Is it a HCG test for OTD?

My clinic's official OTD is a HCG test on 14dp a 5day embryo. They want to know the initial number before they advise further..

I'm an early tester too (from 5dp5dt), 4 transfers now; I stop the drugs on day 9 if it's negative on a urine test. My last one was a positive that did not progress/darken, and low HCG on day 10 (repeated every 2 days) so I stopped the drugs on day 14 as HCG numbers did not look promising.

No, just pee on a normal stick (which obvs check for HCG), but not a blood test or anything 🤷🏼‍♀️
