Hey everyone I have pcos and starting letrozole next month I’ve been trying to get pregnant for many years now I’ve never been pregnant not even once and I’m 32 years old had hsg a few months ago everything’s normal so it seems it could be that I’m not ovulating I have regular periods maybe 2 or 3 a year that are a few days late other then that I’m good in that department. I was wondering if anyone on here had gotten pregnant taking letrozole after years of trying to get pregnant? TIA x

I tried letrozole (limited help - I don’t think it made me ovulate if I remember correctly) and clomid (did make me ovulate but no pregnancy unfortunately). I have had friends who have taken both and had success though - so it definitely works for some people.

Eventually I moved to IVF and have two children from a round of IVF. (Frozen embryos).

The reason I wanted to comment though was because I then started to take a supplement called infolic aplha that someone recommended to me. I fell pregnant naturally and as a huge surprise!! I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant. Might be worth looking up as I genuinely never thought I would be lucky enough to fall pregnant “naturally”.

Good luck with the letrozole. I know how difficult these months and years of trying and hoping are.

Thank you so much for your reply. So happy that you finally got to be a mum that’s amazing it’s so draining after so many years isn’t it. I’m also on metformin and folic acid. Will definitely look up the stuff you said thank you for the recommendation x

@JenMonty92 no wuccess story sorry! Just started cycle one of letrazole though! Good luck!

JenMonty92 · 11/03/2025 22:32

@Peonies94 I’m cycle day 12 currently of my first medicated round! How are you feeling? I’ve had the worst headaches! 😩 but definitely feel like somethings happening had a stitch feeling the other day and I don’t feel in pain like I do most months around the time of ovulation I always have pain during sex around that time it’s horrible but not this month. My consultant doesn’t think I ovulate or not properly because of my pcos. Hoping letrozole is my miracle drug. How many cycles are you doing of letrozole? X

@JenMonty92 I’m feeling okay right now but I’m only day 3 of taking the meds! Been TTC for 18 months and I don’t ovulate, potentially have about twice since we started TTC according to temps, but not even sure about those times! Really hopeful this is what we need!
currently got two cycles to try and see if it makes me ovulate! How many are you trying? We’ve gone privately as the wait to even have investigations was taking way too long for us and I was struggling with it all! 😔
I hope it’s successful for you! Good to hear your feeling a bit different! Could be a good sign! Do you usually have regular cycles?
my last cycle was 58 days and others have been 35! I’m going to be testing using OPKs and temping so hopefully I’ll know If im ovulating! Are you using a trigger shot? I’ve been given just the tablets this time around!

JenMonty92 · 12/03/2025 08:03

@Peonies94 aw that’s good then I literally got a headache within an hour of taking the first tablet and since get headaches since finishing the tablets but all worth it if it works! Ahh yes I agree it is very long I’m on the NHS so literally from going to my doctor about it it’s taken 2 years to get onto letrozole and have a hsg! I honestly thought it would be straight to ivf but I’m so happy I have other options to try first I’ve never been pregnant not even once in 15 years it’s been a long 15 years of me just putting it to the side because I was to scared for the truth or them to tell me I have zero chance wish I done it sooner but then I’m glad I’ve done it now in my 30’s with the partner I’m currently with for sure. Consultants given me 3 cycles to do so I go back in may for a follow up appointment hoping I’m hoping I’m pregnant by then lol. No I haven’t been offered that I’ve heard about the trigger shot what isit actually for? Yeah weirdly enough I have regular periods even though I’m clearly not ovulating or ovulating properly I’m between 28-31 days every month. So good to have someone else to talk to about it. I just usually read posts and google stuff lol x

Absolutely will be worth it if it works! I’ve not had any symptoms other than slight discomfort the evening when I take the medication, but that’s it! Did you get referred to fertility first and get scans etc? So I went to the GP about it back 6 months ago and was asked to have a smear, did that and got referred for a scan. I’m told this could take 12-18 months for a scan! I then feel like from there it could be another really long wait before the next step and so on and I just don’t feel like I have the wait in me! Thought I’d try a few private cycles first and see what happens!
I have an ovusense and temps show that I’ve not ovulated for the last 18 months, potentially maybe twice!
so from what I read the trigger helps actual ovulation to happen where as Letrazole helps the overies grow the egg to the right size, lots of people don’t need it though!
Hace you ever tried temping?
what tests did they give you before offering Letrazole?
wishing you all the best luck! Are you using ovulation sticks?

Peonies94 · 18/03/2025 20:22

@JenMonty92 how’s your cycle going? I’m cycle day 13 and still bleeding for some reason! Think it’s the Letrazole that’s caused it! I’m thinking if I do ovulate now, that I’ll probably miss it as it’ll be during my period so no chance of success! Feeling so deflated! Was hoping Letrazole was the answer!

Hi, I’m TTC with Letrozole and PCOS. Also 32! Mine isn’t a great story though -yet, I’m on my 6th cycle and no success yet. I have a son so don’t qualify for help. I’m a bit of an anomaly, as mine is via GP not fertility team. They wouldn’t accept me due to BMI, we have since dropped under but the wait for semen analysis was so long, GP prescribed it anyway. Test is next month and we will be rereferred. This does mean I have hadn’t had tubes tested, scans etc. Have had blood tests and am ovulating at 2.5mg. Had it extended for another 6 months today and hoping we will have been picked up with fertility by then!

Oran333 · 13/05/2025 22:44

JenMonty92 · 15/05/2025 12:31

@Disneybride hey! Sorry I don’t come on here much anymore just see the notification when scrolling my emails. How are you doing? I’m also not with a fertility team yet I’m with a consultant at my local hospital currently on cycle 3 now but I have ovulated every time which is amazing. Due my period in 4 days so I’ll know if this round worked or not x

Losing hope to be honest! They’ve extended my cycles of Letrozole and had blood tests today to hopefully get the fertility referral through.

Good luck, most people catch around then :) xx
