42 years old 5dp2dt. Anyone had success with the same odds?

Hi.

I’m 42 (43 in a couple of months) and don’t have any known fertility issues. The simple fact is, I met my partner in my late 30s and life got in the way.

I only had three viable eggs from my egg collection. Two embryos turned out to develop abnormally, and one miracle embryo was top grade and developing nicely (4.33 out of a possible 4.44).

As I only had one viable embryo, the clinic wanted to transfer two days in, as there were no other embryos to compare at blastocyst stage, and my embryo would have more chance once implanted.

Anyway, I’m now 5dp2dt. I tested at 3dp2dt mainly just to see whether I had any hcg in my system left from the trigger shot taken 7 days earlier. The test a viable line. I knew this was probably leftover hcg, and sure enough, these last two days the line has faded to almost nothing. I was trying to be smart about it, i.e. to measure any leftover hcg, so I would know when it was fully out of my system, and to be fair, the testing has done just that… but in hindsight, it also ignited a sense of hope in me. The part of me that was hopeful that the line would get darker, rather than fade, and I’m now just very sad about it.

Has anyone had the same odds as me (or older) and had any success? I just need some positivity. We want this so much.

@SuperSonic2011 5dp2dt would be too early I'd think. Most seem to only start testing positive 5dp5dt, so not for another three days, and that's only those with early implantation.
I have everything crossed for you.

I think realistically, you should only test 10days past as this is a 2-day embryo. You need to make up the days to align with a natural pregnancy (which is typically 12 days past ovulation).

I normally would test on day 7 for my 5-day old embryo... although I am an early tester too so I completely understand the anxiety.

It is still early days for you so try and relax and eat all the right foods for now. All the best!

I feel your pain, I did the same. But I did get negative tests between trigger being out of my system and the BFP so there is still hope. As PP said, try and relax as much as you can!

In my fresh bfp round I tested out the trigger and it completely faded before coming back when I tested at 5dp5dt. I’ve had a couple of fets with positives on the evening of 4dp5dt but really squinting with a torch stuff. I’d say it’s way too early to count yourself out. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞

Update: 10dp2dt and still negative. My period is due any time between yesterday and tomorrow, and possibly up until Saturday. My ODT is the 14th (14dpt), but I’ve seen many people who are at 2dt being given an ODT of 16/17dpt, so I just don’t know what to think at this point. 🤷‍♀️ I felt a pulling in my lower abdomen for the first 4dpt, as if I’d done a load of sit ups, but nothing since. I’m starting to lose hope tbh. 😕 x

On which day did you get your BFP and how many days was your embryo? x

I had a very faint positive on 7dp5dt, so probably around where you are now with a 2 day embryo? I can’t stress enough how faint the line was though!
