Hi ttc friends, what a bloody journey this is. Bit of background:

33, ttc since November 2022, husbands sperm fine with a slightly low morphology, bit high count, always told it looks fine.

diagnosed with endo and polycystic ovaries Sept 2023
removed May 2024
IVF began Sept 2024

round 1 (standard ivf)
18 eggs collected
15 mature
11 fertilised
only got one good quality blast at 5BB which resulted in a chemical

round 2: (standard ivf)
had to do a freeze all due to high risk OHSS
12 eggs collected
11 mature
5 fertilised
3 blasts made but not good enough quality to freeze so cancelled cycle

round 3: (icsi)
15 eggs collected
12 mature
7 were apparently such bad quality they couldn’t even try and fertilise them, so we were left with…
5 mature
3 fertilised

we’ve just had a day 3 transfer of a compacting 8 cell good quality embryo in the hope that it’s better off inside me than in the lab!

any success stories of a day 3 transfer before I drive myself crazy? so wanted this one to be the one!! we are waiting for the other two to see if they make good quality blastocysts, they were graded okay quality 6 cell and an okay quality 5 cell, so it’s not all doom and gloom but given my history, they probably won’t miraculously make perfect blasts.

just any support or positivity right now would be amazing.

thank you amazing amazing people 💙🩷💙🩷💙

Not sure about the “compacting” part (if the clinic told me about that, I certainly don’t remember) but my now almost 3 year old DS is from a day 3, 8 cell fresh transfer - so it’s certainly possible! Like you I didn’t get many embryos, so my clinic transferred 2 at day 3, as they also believed they’d have a better chance inside me. They also froze two day 3 ones for me, so I think it just depends on the clinic policy. Good luck!

a small update, our 5 cell stopped growing at 7 cells, our 6 cell became a 5CC blastocyst but they are waiting until tomorrow to write it off completely (my clinic won’t freeze C grades!)

the embryologist said the positive to take was that if the average day 3 6 cell can make a blastocyst, then the good 8 cell in my belly is likely doing a lot better!

feeling hopeful and although sad we have nothing to freeze, this might be our little one!
