How long did PGT-A and PGT-M take for you?

Dear moms, strongly considering Kings (privately) for my IVF treatment. The reason is we are carriers of a genetic issue, hence we will be doing PGT-M (to test the gene) and PGT-A (for chromosomal abnormalities since we are at it).

If you have done this - how long did it take you to get the PGT results? And how long was initial consultation to egg transfer?

Any other feedback also welcome…Thank you in advance and baby dust to all ✨

I'm at King's.

Can't answer the PGT-A question yet for sure but I've been told up to two weeks from collection. Unsure if PGT-M is different.

As you're private you'll be able to start within a matter of weeks depending on your cycle dates and which protocol you're on.

I am on short protocol which involves a baseline scan on cycle day 18-25 to make sure there are no cysts etc and then medication starts shortly thereafter on day 2. Before the baseline scan you will need to have an initial meeting with a consultant to determine protocol, a nurse appointment to go over consent issues and a meeting with the genetic testing counsellor. I did all of those over the course of a fortnight (latter two via zoom) but was actively pushing for ASAP. Blood tests are also required prior to the nurse appointment.

Good luck!

Thank you @sirensong for your kind reply. Do they tell you your treatment plan already in the first consultation appointment? Does this mean semen, blood test and scan are instant results? Just confused about the dependencies… And the geneticist appointment outcome, does that not feed into the treatment plan? Sorry just trying piece it all together as just started 🫠 Good luck to you as well!

@ToddlerMamma I'm at the Lister rather than Kings but my experience of PGT-A testing (x2 rounds) was quicker than expected, we got the results about 10 days after the embryos were biopsied. I think PGT-M could take longer as its more complicated but I don't know a lot about it.

We had our first IVF consult appointment late August which determined protocol and any blood tests etc that we needed to do, they did them v quickly and I started stims cycle 1 in mid September, after egg collection went straight into another round as we got 1 embryo then and wanted to bank more and felt time of the essence! After 2nd egg collection in late October we had what we wanted but had a bit of a break before going to transfer stage (aiming for that soon!), partly to do some more testing ahead of transfer, and also because the clinic closed over Christmas. I found everything moved pretty fast, I guess when you're paying they want to get you through asap!
