Timing of FET anxiety

Hello! I'm hoping to try my first FET this year, we are fortunate enough to have four frozen embryos, no children. My sister and I have booked and paid for a nice holiday for us and our mum for a big birthday in April 2026.

I'm not sure when to do the FET. We will have saved enough for the FET by June. I'm not expecting it to be successful (this journey has unfortunately left me feeling very negative) but on the off chance it was, I'm worried about being pg by the time of the holiday, being ill or unable to go, or actually having a newborn - if I were lucky enough!

Am I being silly for worrying about this? I don't want to let my mum or sister down as we've been saving for the holiday for a few years. Of course I'm worrying about a hypothetical scenario there. But I also don't want to wait more than a year to try a FET.

Any advice or insight is appreciated x

What a dilemma!

Calculate the timing, if you are over 7 months pregnant you can't fly on April 26. However, newborns are easy to travel with.

You are likely to be fine with your pregnancy before 7 months, so go on holiday pregnant and everyone will pamper you too.

Hi OP,

Your definitely aren’t silly for worrying about this! I think if I were you I would try and raise the funds to do the FET sooner than June?

Fully appreciate that this may not be doable for you,but then the baby would be here in Oct/nov if u were successful.

IVF makes life so difficult to plan!

Thank you, that's really helpful. I have counted backwards and that would be September at the earliest really ☺️ x

Thank you for not minimising my worry, you're right, it's so hard to plan life around IVF and TTC. I didn't expect this to be an issue when we first discussed the holiday 3 years ago!

Bringing forward the FET is definitely worth considering, I think I'm going to have to think really hard about this. Thanks again
