Worried about another FET failure

After 8 years of TTC have never had a positive pregnancy test. Did IVF last year with own egg and sperm which resulted in two early miscarriages and a chemical. The doctors kept saying that most likely due to chromosomal issues with the embryo.

Finding the IVF process very tough mentally and physically so in December we tried double donor FET which unfortunately failed to implant. Used both embryo hatching and embryo glue and it was a 3AA blastocyst.

About to start the process of a second double donor FET. The only change to the protocol is going to use an ovitrelle trigger the day of the transfer and a few days after. The doctor says the theory is the HCG tricks your body into thinking pregnant and less likely to reject the embryo?

Just so worried about it not working again. I know it's all chance and like flipping a coin but can't help feeling hopeless about the whole situation.

I guess I'm looking for success stories for people who have had 4+ failed transfers, or whether anyone has used the ovitrelle trigger post transfer.

Thanks 😊

@Dorcaz sorry I can't offer reassurance but just wanted to wish you lots of luck, I'm gearing up for my second transfer and very scared also....never had a positive pregnancy test and can't picture ever having one xx

Oh my goodness you've had a really hard time with this 💐I can to some extent relate as we had 4 failed transfers 5th one was the successful one! TTC for 5 yrs previous to starting IVF which took another 2 yrs to get to the sucsessful transfer.

It was really really difficult and completely emotionally exhausting so upsetting and very expensive but we got there in the end so hopefully it will be 5th transfer for you too! You are not alone and there is always a chance of sucsess.

Wishing you all the best and a BFP!

@Eagerlywaiting1990 good luck with the second transfer! Let's hope we both get our positives.

@Cherryblossom90 I hope I am the same as you and 5th time lucky 🤞
Did you do anything differently on your 5th transfer?
How did you cope with the emotional upset?

Did you do anything differently on your 5th transfer?
Nope not really but it was my only frozen transfer rather than a 'fresh' transfer straight after ICSI so maybe this made a difference? But most likely just a numbers game aka if you keep trying at some point it will work.

How did you cope with the emotional upset?
Badly! 😂I think I would have given up or had a break if this one hadn't worked. But for real be kind to yourself and cut corners stress wise where you can. So if you know something makes you stressed aka the news, a relative etc then just avoid that for now. Put off the stressful admin for now etc as much as possible. I found audio books were a good distraction too. It can feel very overwhelming.

I'm actually hoping to do an ICSI cycle this Feb for a second child 😬hopefully wont be a two year IVF rollercoaster process like last time to get a BFP.... Like you said it is like flipping a coin you just don't know what will happen. Hopefully this will be the cycle for both of us!

Hi. I am about to go into my 6th FET, it is exhausting and heart breaking. I recently had further testing done, waiting for the results before we proceed with next transfer. I only have 2 frozen embryos left and then I am done with it.

Dorcaz · 19/01/2025 22:17

@Cherryblossom90 if I ever end up with a live birth I'm not sure I would be able to go through it again. You must be super strong!

I have recently gotten into listening to audiobooks more. The one I am currently listening to has a narrator with a super calming voice. And I have stocked up on jigsaw puzzles to try and distract me during the 2WW.

It's rather frustrating though as I normally run and lift weights for stress relief, which obviously cannot do during IVF.

@AnonS good luck!
It's awful that we have to go through this heartache 💔

What further testing did you have done?
