Bleeding/spotting a month after egg retrieval

Hi

looking for some advice! I had an egg collection on 9th December so around 5 weeks ago. No embryos to transfer so I only took 1 progesterone pessary before stopping. I had my period around 12 days after which was pretty normal for me if a tad heavier than normal. I then had about a week of no bleeding then around when I expected to ovulate I started spotting which continued for a week before I started bleeding properly. I assumed just a short cycle due to stims etc. this didn’t really stop though and have been spotting for about a week since and today has turned into bleeding again!

I rang my fertility clinic and they seemed a little panicked and booked me for a scan on Monday but now I feel im going to be stressing something terrible is happening over the whole weekend!

has anyone had so liar experiences after egg retrieval??

When they seems panicked, did they say why?

I only once experienced a cycle like that but it was during a natural cycle and the result wasn't good. - an ectopic pregnancy.

I had absolutely horrible ovulation pains ( I think somehow the egg implanted as soon as it was fertilised!) I spotted for about 5 days then had my period a week early. Only knew I was pregnant as we started trying for #2 the month after and was confused as to why I kept getting peak ovulation tests. Sadly we haven't been able to get pregnant since.

That is a bit of a worse case scenario but worth taking a test if there's any chance you might be pregnant - even if you had a period.

Hi - that was my initial thought when the spotting started but I’ve took loads of pregnancy tests and all negative!

im having what is definitely my period now. The last bleed didn’t have cramps or anything but now I’m having all the period symptoms I normally do, so the bleeding in between periods is the abnormal part.

all I can think is the estrogen rise messing with my body, when I’ve been on the pill only the progesterone only pill suited me as the combined pill would always make me breakthrough bleed. If it’s my period it’s come on time and all the other bleeding is just bizarre. They didn’t say what they were worried about but I was assuming some kind of complication from the retrieval. I’ll update on Monday!

@TTC1209 that's reassuring that they are negative (in a definitely not ectopic way).
Let us know what they say. I have my first retrieval a few days before you - my luteal phase has actually been longer since IVF - they've both been 14 days when they used to be about 10, so I think it changes your cycle a bit, and I also ovulated early this cycle.
