SPERM ANALYSIS ?! Please can somebody help us understand results

My husband has just had his SA results back. We're struggling to understand them, can anybody help?

So I read these as lots of sperm, 12% are fast moving, 25% are slow moving, but added together is greater than 30% so above low limit, 8% are not moving forwards but are moving, and then 55% are not moving at all

I believe this is a good result, but no morphology reported which is strange

I'm not expert though, just comparing to my husbands results

These are two others that he had last year. I found the letter hard to read.

That must be quite bad having such a high percentage not moving. It's so worrying x

It's normal to have non moving sperm, but you want the moving sperm to be above 30% is what I was told. Its possible to also improve this number with diet, low alcohol, no smoking etc, supplements.

It looks like morphology on the Jan 24 test is 0% ?? This would be a concern as ideally this should be above 4%

Has anyone spoken to you about these results? Possible varicocele?

Yeah we were confused with that too, although the dr suggested perhaps they hadn't tested that.

We were concerned after his first results however he changed diet and exercise etc and then we had the second results which were more positive. We're disappointed the third results have gone down in some areas however hopefully not enough to cause alarm.

I've been pregnant twice however had an ectopic and chemical.

My husbands upset to see some of his results reduce however he has let his diet and exercise slip slightly so he's back onto that. Thanks for your help it can be such a worry. X

Might be worth looking into a dna fragmentation test and possible varicocele. I only say that though as your results are similar to my husband and he has a varicocele

I'll definitely look into them. That's interesting that your husbands results were similar. Is this something that the fertility clinic will pick up? These SA were requested by GP.

Once we had 2 sperm analysis by the gp, it was determined male factor infertility. That was it, we were referred to ivf and the NHS weren't bothered to look into him anymore
We decided to look into it privately, and then that was when he was diagnosed with a varicocele. However, they advised it could take a year after surgery for sperm to return, and it may not work so we decided to continue with ivf on nhs

If you don't mind me asking which results were similar to my husbands?

This was the result on his first sample, he's had 4 more since then. He's been able to improve his count, and motility a bit. But morphology is still poor

Thank you so much @LilyPoppet1! The results have come back as abnormal but I think that's down to the morphology as that is low. But we were so confused with these numbers.
