FET for sibling

Feeling a bit out of place as extremely lucky and fortunate to have my DD who is away to turn 3 through IVF.
We had all embryos frozen and DD was result of first frozen transfer

This month we decided to try for sibling and transfer one of our 3 embryos we had. It was a 3AA (I believe DD was a 4AA) and unfortunately it is a negative. I knew from first day it wasn't going to work for some reason and just didn't feel anything at all.

Waiting for after new year to call clinic and see about trying one of the other two but my mind is in a mess wondering if those will fail also and the added cost of everything now as well adds extra to think on.

Is it a numbers game or will there be something wrong with embryos? Anyone else been in a similar situation and had success with transfer 3 for a sibling?

Hi, I thought I’d just drop a quick post on here although I’m in a different situation. I’m sure you already know but roughly 2/3 of transfers fail, for all sorts of reasons. So for the first to have worked straight away is fairly lucky.

I’ve had 3 FETs, first (3AA) was BFP then mmc at 9 weeks (they think it was the embryo), second (3AB) BFN (unknown reason), third (3BA) BFP and I’m now 24 weeks pregnant. So I really believe it’s a game of luck and numbers. Each transfer and embryo is different and you’ve already shown that you can produce a euploid embryo and carry a pregnancy which are huge pluses. Good luck!

I am planning my first FET too, we've only got 1 shot though sadly. They are intending a natural FET which scares me slightly, with my useless body.
I also have a DD who is almost 2.5, from the original fresh transfer.

You’re experiencing what a lot of people do first time around. It might hit harder as you know it can work.

my advice is keep going - you have the chance of success - but you definitely won’t if you don’t even try.

what if you didn’t try at all on first embryo trabsfer…..

We are unexplained infertility so I tend to look for any little detail to try find 'the answer' and as grateful and lucky as I am to have my daughter it still kinda sucks to be in this position also

It's a strange feeling really and almost feel I can't be sad because I had success with IVF already

So nerve racking isn’t it! I remember how awful all the failures were trying to have my DS, but knowing that this frozen embryo transfer will be my only shot at giving him a sibling seems surprisingly almost as hard 😢. I was desperate to keep going to get DS, but it helped that I knew if it failed I could likely try again - and this time if it doesn’t work, I can’t (too old now).

Like you said, I know how lucky I am to have finally got DS (after 9 attempts!) but I never expected how emotionally tough it might be to want to have a second and know I likely won’t be able to, so I keep putting it off 😩

Hi OP if it helps the only embryo that produced a baby for us was a frozen one.
We did 5 egg collections and 5 fresh transfers which all failed (2 led to early misscarriages). The last egg collection we got an extra embryo which we froze for later and then when the fresh transfer failed we actually used that frozen one which is now tg our baby!
