Sperm Freeze Queries

My partner is freezing his sperm on Thursday due to severely low count that seems to be getting worse.

Ive just got a few questions.. once he's handed in his sample will we be contacted to let us know figures and if they were able to freeze any? Or do they just freeze regardless of quality etc.? Or if they are really bad quality do they still freeze? Or do they not look into the quality until it comes to potentially using the sperm for treatment?

My partner had a sample frozen few weeks ago. He was called the same day to be told they managed to get 10 straws and that it was good news. We’re due to have IVF with ICSI and have the frozen as a back up incase sample on the day is poor, so I assume they must check them before hand otherwise seems pointless? Sorry I can’t be of more help!

@ivfjourneyandme perfect thank you! We’ve not really been told anything 😂 so as far as we know he drops the sample off and that’s that. Yes we’ve been advised we’ll need ICSI as well. I didn’t even think about a fresh sample being used on the day! Hadn’t even thought that far ahead 😂 I’m hoping this freeze will give us some good news as he only had 19 sperm in his last analysis which completely caught us off guard. But thank you 😊
