Cramping after FET

Hi all,

Trying not to symptom spot but I'm having really bad cramps (similar to period pains) but not bleeding. I know it could all be the progesterone but I'm just scared it hasn't worked.

I had my first FET last week (so it all feels very new). It was a day 5 frozen blastocyst as we had to freeze all due to OHSS risk. I am day 8 post transfer today and promised myself I will only test on test day which is Friday (day 11).

I had some mild cramping last week but today has been a lot more severe. Feels like period is coming. I'm on cyclogest twice a day pessaries so I know could just be that.

Other than cramps and some tiredness I haven't had any other symptoms. It could all be the medications which is why I don't want to test early. But I'm finding the cramps really distressing and it makes me worried it hasn't worked.

Did other experience a lot of cramping PostFET?
And shall I just wait till Friday to test? Almost there now

I am a wait to test kind of person so I would wait until Friday in your position, and have time to yourself afterwards for any eventuality.

It could well be the progesterone causing cramps.

Hope it’s good news for you.

Really stressful - all I can say is that you will find out soon. All the best

I did fresh rather than frozen transfer but I also had cramps constantly which felt like I was about to come on my period. I did wait until the test day too and it was a BFP. By the time I went for my 7 week viability scan I was still cramping daily and the nurse said that was normal. Scan showed a healthy heartbeat. My cramping only stopped when I stopped taking progesterone at 8 weeks (I understand it will probably be longer for a FET). I had a follow up scan at 11+1 (private, for reassurance) and little one had developed nicely and was wiggling its arms and legs all over the place. So in short, I think cramping is normal and just symptomatic of the hormones you're taking. Try not to worry - easier said than done though!

Wishing you the best of luck for your test on Friday ☺️

I've had cramping on and off since my FET. And i don't normally cramp before my period. I have tested positive so it's a worry that there is something wrong. But I do think the progesterone has alot to answer for. Tmi.... I also find I cramp more when needing a #2 😂

I've had 3 transfers with my previous cycles 1 fresh, 2 frozen. I cramped with the two BFPs (one MC), didn't cramp with the BFN. Id see it as a good sign!

Out of my 2 transfers, the one with lots of cramping was an initial BFP! Ended in a chemical but the embryos did implant. I think cramping is a good sign X

Hey hun , I had FET after freeze all, I cramped for the whole two weeks was convinced it didn’t work - and had a BFP! currently 12 weeks pregnant now ! Good luck !! Also get tested for UTI as I had one of them at the same time which could have also caused cramping !

@daisypizza @Whysitsohard91 @xMrsxHx87x @Autumn245 @Mseddy @Lozzy000 @CEllenx

Thank you all for the supportive and reassuring messages

The test was positive! Trying not to be too excited... and still cautious as anything could happen!
Still got cramps on and off randomly throughout the day but feel abit more reassured

Should I mention the cramps to the clinic? No bleeding or other symptoms atm.
We will have viability scan after xmas

Congratulations @Englishrose35 so happy for you. You could mention them if it will reassure you. I'm sure they will tell you it's normal :) enjoy your Christmas and I've got everything crossed for a good scan after

Autumn245 · 10/12/2024 15:56

Congratulations @Englishrose35 what lovely news!

xMrsxHx87x · 10/12/2024 16:13

Congratulations! So happy for you. I didn't bother calling the clinic about cramps, I just waited until the viability scan and mentioned it when they asked how I'd been feeling. And as a PP above said, they just said it's normal! I have read online that it's common for early natural conceptions to feel like AF is coming too. Best of luck for your viability scan x

Congratulations @Englishrose35 thank you for the happy update.
I had lots of cramping the first few months after successful FET.
