Double embryo transfer (3AA & 5AB) - experience and advice?

Hi all - I did a double transfer back in April period (4AA & 4BB). I got a positive on day 6 but sadly, the HCG never increased quick enough so I lost it in week 5.

I have 2 embryos left with this clinic (3AA & 5AB) and am trying to decide what to do. My embryos weren't tested so out of these 2, I'd be lucky if 1 of them is normal. I just assumed the 2 transferred in April were aneuploids..

I know the clinic will advise me to transfer the 3AA first; I'm just wondering if I should opt for a double transfer again. Will the lesser grade affect the better one?

Would welcome any advice/views and experiences. I've added a poll as well; hoping that will help me decide!

Thanks all.

Hi, it depends on how you are feeling about it and on all parameters like lining, blood work, etc. I wouldn't recommend putting two in unless everything is perfect. Also, I don't think the quality of one embryo affects another in a negative way in a double transfer.

Good luck with whatever you decide 🍀

I did extensive reading about this before we did a double (resulting in our son) and the answer is no, a bad one wouldn't affect a good one.

For me, the decision would be based on whether you would do another egg retrieval afterwards. If you would, I'd transfer both, hopefully one will work, but if not, you'd get to the retrieval as soon and as young as possible. If you wouldn't do another retrieval, I would transfer them separately.

Best of luck.

Thanks @Serendipity24 @MinPinSins for your input.

I won't be doing any more retrievals so I'm bracing myself to accept that it may never happen. It's good to know a B won't affect the A. I think only 1 of the 2 is normal (if lucky) hence the dilemma..

I transferred a fresh day 5 perfect 5AA and a frozen Day 6 BB and had twins. Clinic suspect my girl twin is the day 6 as she always measured several days behind right from 6 weeks - I like to think her brother helped her by implanting first and creating the right environment to help her implant too - there is some evidence that having hcg in your system already can improve implantation which is why some clinics offer pre transfer hcg shots x

How lovely @brummumma! That is my wish although doctor advised (and I know) my body might not manage twins hence it’s higher risk.
