NHS IVF Referral in Suffolk

Hello All

i am looking for advice from anyone that has been in same position especially those of you in Suffolk :)

I am 41, soon to be 42 early next year. We have been trying for a baby for many years with no success. We saw our GP in September and have had blood tests, semen analysis, swabs etc done. I’ve shown no issues not my partner had low motility. Sadly I have not had an ultrasound scan yet and remain on the waiting list at West Suffolk Hospital. Time is running out given my age so the GP has now made the IVF referral to Ipswich Hospital. I have no idea what happens next and what timescales to expect for a response. I fear we have left it all too late. Any advice/experiences greatly received! X TIA

I live in Suffolk and our GP send us to Addenbrooks fertility clinic. They move extremely slow. We started in January 2024 and until now I had blood test and a ultrasound scan( because I paid for both),my husband had spermogram and a scan. We had to wait 3 months between every scan ,blood test .We tried to pay for tests but they still move extremely slow. Now we are waiting for 4 months for my husband to see a urologist.

I am with the Addenbrookes fertility clinic (Cambridge IVF) and I am a fully private patient and they are equally slow i am afraid. See if it possible to travel a bit further? Sending you a virtual hug xxx. Make sure you look after yourself it is a tough journey. 🤗

Thank you so much for your reply. We will debate going private if nhs doesn’t work out but I had assumed it all goes quite quickly when private, compared to nhs. 😟

It might be different for other private clinics. Perhaps get initial consultation with all your options and be firm asking for realistic timelines. Also for different people different needs might be different. Take care 💕
