IUI - what to expect?

Hello! My husband and I just found out we are top of the IUI/IVF waiting list. It’s happened much more quickly than we expected but I feel like I haven’t got my head round the thought of it yet. What should we expect with IUI? I have had irregular periods for 2 years, it’s only in the last few months my cycles have levelled out to around 25/26 days. Blood tests show I am ovulatory. It would be great if someone who’s experienced in IUI could talk me through it - I hate the unknown! Thanks!

Hey

Very simple procedure. I have taken letrozole for 5 days and had few scans . When folicule is 18 plus mm and endometrium more than 7mm around day 10 you get your trigger shot to ensure ovulation. Iui is 24/36h later and it's 5 min procedure similar to smear test

I had 3 failled iui but 1IVF and I'm 3 weeks now so maybe something to consider depending on age . Success rate for iui is very low .

Thank you! I had seen that the success rate is low; I’m not sure whether it will be IUI or IVF, the waiting list was described as IUI/IVF. I‘m 32 so I’m not overly worried about age factors.
