A cold before IVF

Me and my husband are starting IVF at the start of January 25, my husband has a cold at the moment and he’s worrying it might have an impact of his sperm… does any one have any experience of this? Does any one know if a normal cold can damage sperm? He doesn’t have a temperature but he’s feeling pretty rotten at the moment. Thanks ☺️

No experience but if its a mild cold with no fever I think he will be fine. Make sure he's taking vitamin d and maybe look into other immune system boosting supplements? Good luck x

@daisy187 My husband and I both had very bad colds before one of our IVF cycles. I was so worried about it but the clinic reassured us and we decided to go ahead nevertheless. That cycle where we were ill had better results than 2 other cycles when we were totally healthy. I really don't think a cold should have an influence on the outcome but if you end up having fever and a nasty virus such as covid or flu, you should maybe consider delaying treatment. Hope you feel better soon!

I don’t know about the male side of things, but my last cycle which was an FET I had a really bad cold and it ended up being successful. They just told me not to proceed if I had a fever.
