I won't lie - it does get trickier with age! But I had our daughter aged 41 through IVF with my own eggs (egg retrieval was when I was 40!) and am currently pregnant at 44 with a donor egg pregnancy.

Are you just starting out? x

Hello I had IVF at 40. I already had a child conceived naturally at 35 and did IVF for my second due to reoccurring MC. I did two rounds at 40. My first round wasn't good, the drug dose was too low and I only got 3 eggs and only 1 made it to day 5. It was a low grade too.

My second round and second transfer (FET) was successful and I now have my daughter who is 7 months old. That round I got 10 eggs, 4 blastocysts - all higher grade. They upped my drugs and changed them for that round. I will be 42 in a couple of months and have two frozen ones left.

I would recommend the book 'it starts with the egg' I followed the recommendations from that supplement wise and I also did weekly fertility accupuncture- unsure which of all these things worked but I just threw the kitchen sink at it! Best of luck x

Thanks and congrats! I have that book too :) I’ve heard this about acupuncture, am considering it! How long beforehand did you start doing it? Was it before egg collection (or before FET?)

Hi OP, I had IVF at 42 and got my two babies from one round of IVF (fresh transfer which was successful then FET for the second two years later which was also successful). I was generally healthy before starting but I didn't change my diet, didn't cut out alcohol (until after the positive tests obviously!) and didn't take any supplements and neither did my DH, so I think sometimes it's just luck, you won't know until you try!

@ouchwtf sorry I didn't get a notification you had asked me something. I had accupucture weekly from 3 months prior to egg collection then throughout my first transfer which failed (was low grade and lining was thin which I think was the main problem) and then my second (high grade embryo and good thickness of lining) which was a FET. I also had it until 12 weeks pregnant so in total 7/8 months ish

I had IVF at 40 and had my only child from my second cycle (after lots of previous failed IUI’s). I also followed the guidance on supplements from “It Starts with the egg” - took Myo- inositol, a pregnancy multi vit, omega 3 fish oil, NAC, ALA, a vaginal probiotic and Ubiquinol for 3 months ahead of collection (and stayed on the Myo, fish oil, multi-vit, pro- biotic and NAC throughout the pregnancy too).

I don’t know if it was the supplements or the fact that they upped my IVF meds to the max dose that second time but they said my egg quality was much better 🤷‍♀️
