Starting Letrozole - Dr says no exercise

Hello,

I’m about to start Letrozole as I have had irregular periods and suspected anovulation since I came off Mirena coil over a year ago. I exercise quite a bit but have cut that down substantially over the past few months to around 3 times of strength training in the gym each week and the odd run. I am a healthy BMI but I am quite petite (5 ft 2). I exercise because I enjoy it and it really helps me mentally.

At my appointment today, the Dr said I have to cut out exercise completely (aside from walking). This was a bit of a shock and has made the thought of this long road even more daunting. I exercise mainly for my mental health and it is part of my weekly routine. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any tips on how to get through this without exercise? Feels so frustrating having to give up something I enjoy without knowing whether it is even going to help.

Think I might need a new hobby!

Thanks :)

Hi there!

I went through a 6 month phase of not exercising. I didn’t get pregnant, got depressed and put on 5kg.

I’ve stopped weight training but have taken up running, but try to listen to my body. If I’m feeling tired I either don’t go or keep it light. Ironically I think the zone 2 training has helped with my endurance 😂

If you are worried could you ask the pharmacist if there is an issue with exercise and Letrozol? Best of luck
