Hi everyone, i could really use some help here. My husband and I are going through a form of IVF (PGD) which includes some genetic testing as my husband has a condition (it doesnt impact is quality of life but puts him at higher risks of things). Im 39 F and have a low AMH of 13.8 (I have repeatedly been told im old and have a low reserve) We had a collection in June and had 14 eggs collected. 8 fertilised but only 1 made it to day 5. It was a BC and had normal chromosomes but had my husbands condition, so wasnt ideal to transfer. We went again for round 2 but this time there were only 5 eggs (5!!) 1 made it to day 5 and was high grade (AB) but had chromosomal issues and had my husbands condition so definitely couldn't use. We are going for round 3 but i am so devastated and I cant understand why my numbers were so different. I am scared that round 3 will be even less and i just feel so heartbroken. Shouldnt there be a same pattern in the numbers? Please can anyone share their experiences and will it just go down and down- is there any point in trying again? If you had similar egg collection numbers, does anyone have experience of being old and having a successful 3BC transferred?

Hi you're amh is NOT low it's great for you're age, what is you're AFC ? maybe change clinics change protocol?
I'm 31 with a amh of 3 over a year ago I was put on high stims got 4 eggs none fertilized, 2nd round stayed on high stilms got 2 eggs, none made it to day 4, my clinic wasn't willing to change protocol so I changed clinic, I'm starting on a low stim next month, even do I havnt got a success story yet I'm glad I'm changing something in hopes to change the outcome!

I was a low responder on my first round of ICSI so the clinic changed my protocol from long protocol to short protocol. I only managed to get 2 good embryos each round, (both implanted) the first ended in cp and the second round gave me my daughter.

I also read It Starts With The Egg and implemented some of the suggestions there between rounds (including taking COQ10 & vitamin d).

It was a long time ago so I don’t remember all the details but those things stood out.

As others have said, AMH of 13.8 is within ok range for any age and decent for 39. The main positive from your results in that you produced a euploid - the gold standard for success - from your first round. It was very bad luck to have your husband's condition.

AFC varies by month so your haul could easily be higher than last time.

Thank you so much for being so kind. I’m just so scared. Wishing you so much luck on your next round. I have everything crossed for you xx

I’m so pleased that you managed to have a beautiful baby (I’m sorry it didn’t go smoothly the first time)
iv been taking folic acid and vitamin d but not COQ10 so will look into it. Next round is in December so not sure itl do much difference 😩

They said 3BC isn’t a great grade but whilst it has the condition it is still chromosomaly normal. Because his condition means the baby has a higher risk of cancer after 40 (so doesn’t have an impact on life quality) they have said they will still release the embryo if we don’t get any luck from the next round but still hoping we get one without the condition. I think the fact we had a chromosomal issue with the last one (and a tiny haul) has really shaken us and I’m just so scared to try again

Absolutely normal to have chromosomal issues in many embryos in late 30s - this is not specific to your body and overall still means around half should be ok. The fact you are getting to blastocyst stage at all (some women don't) and have one euploid (many women don't) means your body is still on the ball. Definitely worth another roll of the dice.

Green here shows population average euploid rates.
