IVF and thin uterine lining - confused?

Hi everyone. I am on my second cycle of IVF. I’m really confused by the scans this cycle, as my uterine lining was noted as being 5.1 on day 8 of stimulations, and today on day 10 it was apparently 3.7 🙁 I haven’t had any bleeding - so I don’t really understand how my lining could have decreased in two days instead of increasing. In my first cycle it went from 4.7 up to 7.4 over the same time period - so I really don’t understand. They are still proceeding with a trigger shot as there are enough large follicles, but obviously I am worried about having a measurement of 3.7 when it was over 7 this time last cycle. It was a new nurse doing the scan - could they have measured it wrong? 🤨 anyone had anything similar?

Hi, I had something similar, I can’t remember the exact measurements but it dropped during stims. They switched me to a freeze all cycle and then I went back for medicated FET. I’ve had 3 FETs since and got a decent lining on all of them. Don’t panic and good luck.

If there are eggs to be collected and you go ahead with egg collection I would ask for another lining scan to help inform the decision regarding having a fresh transfer or not.

In a similar situation I would be very reluctant to transfer with that lining but human error in the scanning should be ruled out and the clinic need to explain the situation to you.
If there were an embryo that was considered not suitable for freezing but possibly suitable for transfer I would transfer that. Otherwise I would probably want a freeze all. The issue for me is I personally had several cycles with nothing suitable to freeze so I would really want to be sure about the lining. In your case hopefully you will have a better response and embryo numbers.

Thanks for the responses. I had egg collection yesterday and they re-checked the measurements - was back up to 8! Had 10 eggs collected so fingers crossed now for the next leg of the journey🤞

That’s great news @HollyFlan, hopefully the next leg goes well for you! Did you do anything to improve your lining, or do you think the 3.7 measurement was inaccurate? I’ve heard of people whose lining shrunk on stims but never anyone whose shrunk and then grew again?! If you did do anything differently over the last few days I’d love to know as I have trouble getting over 7 so willing to try anything that could make a difference! Wishing you all the best with your transfer.

Hi @Sunshinebytheseaside I’m really unsure whether it was measured incorrectly or if it suddenly increased - I wonder if a bit of both? I had drunk some tumeric and ginger tea and I read afterwards that tumeric can reduce uterine lining! I tried everything after that to bring it back haha - including eating an entire pineapple, and drinking raspberry leaf (but I stopped the tea before embryo transfer day). I also have been taking coQ10 for egg quality, and I took a warm (but not too hot) bath the day before egg collection - anything that might help with blood flow/circulation. I threw the tumeric tea out! Good luck for you also! 😊

Good luck @HollyFlan bet you don’t want to look at a pineapple for a while!
