Was your AFC higher at the start of your cycle vs mid/end?

Had a luteal phase scan today and my AFC was lower than my AFC from a day 3 scan of a previous cycle.

Leaving aside the fact AFC can fluctuate each cycle, my question is whether anyone else has has had a pattern of higher AFC day 1-5 and then comparatively lower AFC in the luteal phase (in a non treatment cycle)?

And if so, which number more closely reflected the number of eggs retrieved when you started IVF - the number of immature follicles at the start of your cycle vs the number of mature follicles post ovulation.

Or were your numbers consistent across your cycle?

Hi, don’t know what the expected rule is but mine was higher at the start. The egg collection numbers were more in line with the luteal phase. One doctor did helpfully explain to me that follicles come in waves which I think helps make sense of the variation. Couple of e.g. egg collection round numbers I had: baseline AFC scan on day 3 was 9, then collected 5 eggs, different round baseline AFC 18, collected 12 eggs.
